The latest Investing Matters Podcast with Jean Roche, Co-Manager of Schroder UK Mid Cap Investment Trust has just been released. Listen here.
BDH - interims due tomorrow (15 sep). Sorry to keep banging on about this, but BDH had a v strong set of finals, increased dividend etc. Is there a reason for this fall from grace? Are there skeletons about to be set free tomorrow, or is this just September gloom? Is anyone out there?
Well - in a coincidence, my lovely daughter is called Miranda, so lets hope that SUB is a good omen for us both.
SUB - chan - with cricket rained off its back to LSE. The shares have risen in expectation of, and subsequent release of the RNS saying they've located Ella. Thats got to be a vote of confidence in their process, and bodes well for future discoveries. Ella shd be worth $5-8M, and Miranda c.$40M they say. However, I'm slightly concerned about the prospect of nothing being recovered until next spring. I think it might be a little overpriced at the minute. I still like the look of the company, but I expect share price to rise then fall rapidly next week, before gradually gaining in the long run. What about you?
PCM - apparently @ 13:19hrs 100 Mill shares were sold at 0.11. No affect to share price. Seems a bit odd to me. Is this a typo?
PRTY - As Debbie says - huge volumes of sales reported after hours. Can anyone explain why the prices reported for these sales are so high? ie 1.2 M @ 122.85 @ 1655hrs, when the bid price at the time was around 105.
I didn't mean to predict a closing price with any degree of accuracy. I was just commenting that after the (albeit sentiment driven) falls of this morning, the price seems to be holding fairly steady. And, as others have said, is likely to regain value over the next couple of months as confidence returns. As Spattyken says, inclusion in FTSE 100 should be a morale boost too.
Although a huge amount has been written off today, share price seems to be holding up well at around 103. Thoughts from here?
HHO - Despite the Apr 05 accounts which showed a £92M debt, HHO seem to have cut a lot of dead wood and are restructuring well. Regardless of whether a KM bid comes off or not, aren't the shares still actually quite cheap? In other words, despite having bought on the back of rumours, HHO shd still be strong in the future. The shares are still near their cheapest over 5 years. Am I being overly optimistic? Are these dog shares dressed up with the prospect of a quick profit? Any thoughts?
Okay - so who's owning up to having bought 4.6M at 15:40? Some one not banking on them losing money I'll warrant you. Lets hope we get pulled back up again.
HHO - I feel such an idiot. Watched the footprints when it was still at 2.5 and thought that I'd missed the boat. Congratulations to all who caught it, esp GedW for highlighting it. Is it still worth getting on board, or have we passed the buy limit?
BDH - nearly at year low. Any knowledge why? I notice lots getting in whilst its cheap, but whats going on?
Will MPH be affected by the clothing quotas war, or are they far enough removed not to be?
Anyone know whats going on here? Having reached 180p in Mar 05 we're now plunging to 139. I've not seen any news to reflect this.
CHAN - I agree. Shares appear cheap currently, and with results to be posted in Oct should gain in strength. I bought a few months ago. Have been a bit perplexed to see value drop off what I believe to be a strong company, so pleased to see signs of its vigour.
SUB - Very interesting company aiming to recover precious cargoes from wrecks. First project, Ella, ongoing. Notice some quite large buys today, but no news published as yet. Anyone have any thoughts?
