RE: Happy start of mobilisation of pipeline construction…1 Sep 2025 09:52
I believe the Tanzanians will have meant that the construction phase started in July. Which, with the contract for construction awarded, it did. Either way, no matter, the pipeline is now in the hands of the Chinese. If they are telling the Tanzanians that there will be boots on the ground this month, I’m strongly inclined to believe them.
They are a punctual bunch the Chinese.
Did you know that strict punctuality is embedded in the Chinese educational system? For instance, at top universities like Peking University, students can lose grade points for being late.
Also, In many Chinese offices, punctuality isn’t just encouraged - lateness may trigger automatic wage deductions. This reflects the broader view that being on time is a mark of commitment to the job.
In Chinese business culture, time is a sign of respect. Being prompt isn’t just about keeping a schedule - it’s about demonstrating integrity, respect, and commitment. This is why, in business , arriving on time - or better yet, about 10–15 minutes early - is expected. Tardiness is perceived as disrespectful or unprofessional.
They even have numerous cultural references and sayings that embody these cultural norms. For example, "Time is Money, Efficiency is Life" (时间就是金钱,效率就是生命), is a slogan which gained popularity during China's reform and opening-up period, and underscores the value placed on efficiency and time by Chinese people.
If they say they will start mobilising construction equipment to site this month, I expect the most probably will! 🙂
Keep an eye on the satellite images. Boots on the ground will be the clearest signal yet to the market that this project is moving rapidly towards production, significant revenues, and of course the mother of all drills in CH1!
