Doubt it's as boolean as that- smart or not, no one is correct 100% of the time and much more likely a percentages game than some boolean judgement.

Same for me, averaging at £1.34- could've banked some profit when it was hitting £1.60 earlier in the year but that's hindsight.

Presumably it benefits AFC via profitable customers who stand to benefit from the tax change

Some platforms don't charge a fee on trades so the only 'cost' to the trade is the spread and stamp duty.
