RE: Proff Richard Tedder - antibody tests13 Dec 2021 09:39
bigbangs, Although CK said in July that one of the two main usage cases for antibody testing would be around booster rollout, it (AGAIN) has proved to be incorrect. From a purely logistics point of view, it isn't workable. What is better, doing a fingerprick test, waiting 10 mins reading the test, then deciding on whether to administer the booster or not, or just give the booster. One takes 15-20 mins and requires 2 engagements with a professional, that other takes a min or 2. And With the number of people being boosted per day (and the target is now circa 1M a day), you'd never get that thruput with the first option.
So that just appears to be yet another usage model we were sold that just was plain wrong.
One of the questions I have asked, is around the two usage models he indicated would require antibody testing (boost and selective use of vaccine in scenarios where vaccine was limited), and asked that in the 4 months since he laid those usage models out, was he aware of either of them being used anywhere in the world.
