from that bbc article
"On the idea of stopping free lateral flow tests the education secretary said he did not recognise the report, saying the government had ordered 425 million lateral flow devices in January."
Clear not ODX made, but bbc website today states that new types (plural) of LFT is arriving in N.I. shortly
"On Wednesday, the Department of Health reported that more than one million lateral flow tests had been delivered to Northern Ireland within 48 hours.
That includes of number of new types of rapid lateral flow tests which will become widely available within days."

quite fitting that a post early in 2022 talks raves about new production staff. Afterall the usual suspects spent most of 2021 raving about the 250 staff and how they clearly couldn't be sitting around doing nothing...........
"I am writing this letter to express my deep concerns as to why we are not using Lateral Flow Tests (LFTs) made in the UK ..."
Actually you are writing the email because a company that you own shares in has had its SP tanked because its been let down by UK gov. One wonders how many here would be writting letters and emails to everyone from Mr blobby to Santa about the state of uk sourced LFTs if they did not have a financial interest in it.
People should at least be honest about why they are raising the concerns.
"TWatcher we are looking at CTDA here........"
No, we are looking at what max3 called "covid facts" which are far from it.
The board also believed that the gov was obligated to provide them with a test...the board was wrong.
"There are so many inaccuracies on this BB from rampers/derampers. .......there is nothing to suggest that this contract cannot be redeemed.......the FDA could fast track their test for Emergency Use Approval. It could well be they are already in negotiations with them doing just that. WHO KNOWS"
Starting with an assertion about inaccuracies, only to then state as fact a number of inaccuracies is I suppose making your own case however unintentional.
1) the contract is dead...it can not be "redeemed"
2) WE KNOW....the test has been waiting for professional FDA approval for over 6 months. ODX has told us it is likely too expensive to look about FDA home approval.
remember this is a gov that tried to rewrite the rules to save one of their own MPs.
"mr speaker, we invested in local lft capacity and have successful created x10 capacity from 2 years ago. Unfortunately the companies in question were unable to provide a test that came up to muster, and therefore we have been unable to be in a position to use this capacity". Is a prediction of the tone of the answer.
And after a couple more back and forths, onto the next question.....
That's the gamble you take when you "go to the papers", the angle of the story they go with may NOT be the story you gave them. And it's all well and good ODX trying to clarify via twitter, but whoever read the story, has read the story taken the conclusions from it and moved on.
yeah...going on form there will just be an "emergency extension" or whatever.
"The newspaper report that Omega diagnostics, based in stirling, and Global access Diagnostics, a bedford based firm, produced tests that did not pass regulation and so the government did not place any orders. Both firms where in receipt of government funding .....and it is understood the govrenment is now asking for £2.5M to be repaid by Omega"
Shows you why you need to be careful "going to the papers", read the above, it looks like ODX and GAD couldn't deliver what they said and uk gov is rightly looking their money back.
conclusions so far.
1)
My mate had his first +ve lft on tues, but it was a couple of days since his last LFT test, so hard to determine a time frame.
I had -ve LFT on the 23rd, 24th,25th, and on the evening I went out with him on the 27th. So I am pretty sure I got it that evening.
Assuming that is the case:-
An LFT done 11hrs later was -ve
A PCR done 13hrs later was -ve.
An LFT done 36hrs later was -ve
A PCR done 39hrs later was +ve.
An LFT done 60hrs later was +ve
So, in my case, the LFT picked it up a day after the PCR test.
2) The covid passport to get into venues might be useful, but it shouldn't be seen as good protection. Both my mate and I are tripled vaxed and showed the passport to get in. He still had covid...and I still caught it. requiring it to be mated to a -ve lft taken that day would probably help, but become a logistic nightmare.
3) Taking 3 days to get a PCR result is far too long.
4) You really should take an LFT before you meet up with someone, a -ve doesn't mean you can't infect someone, but it probably means you are less likely to do so.
2) It really is important to LFT before you go out, its for the protection of others, not yourself.
I've been pretty careful all over the holidays, and on the 2 or 3 occasions I went out, took an LFT beforehand.
Went out to meet a mate last mon night, bar was reasonable busy, but here we recently re-introduced new rules for hospitality, table service only etc. Was there for 4 hrs, and join by another friend for the last couple of hrs.
Tues morning got a text from my mate to say he'd felt ropey, took an LFT and it was +ve. Turns out he didn't do an lft the night before. I live with my brother, and his woman is clinically vunerable, where I work there is a woman who is similarly, both shielded for over a year. So even though an LFT showed -ve, i decided to isolate.
Tried to book a PCR "none available anywhere". Booked a postal one. Later in the day a testing centre became available 50 miles away, so booked in there.
Wed morning, LFT was negative. PCR test result came in 6:30am, -ve. Heard the postal PCR come thru the letter box. I decided to stay off today as well. However during the day, between having 2 -ve LFt, a -ve PCR and half a thought that a cold I'd had start of Dec was omicron, I managed to convince myself that I didn't have covid. So although I didn't go out, I didn't keep myself away from my brother, and we sat watching TV that night.
Thurs, LFT POSTIVE !. Only took 3-4 minutes. I kicked myself for not continuing to isolate. My throat felt a bit ropey, but no other symptoms. The walk-in testing centre beside me had slots so booked the PCR. iwatch was telling me that my resting heartrate was 1-15% higher than usual.
Fri, LFT -ve. This one took about 2 mins to get a much stronger line than the previous one. Throat unchanged, resting heartrate still elevated. A slight productive cough. Breathing slightly compromised.
Sat, I didn't bother doing an LFT as I saw no point. Symptoms unchanged. About 4pm I get the result from the wed postal PCR to say it was +ve. Late Sat night, I noticed my heartrate readings were starting to reduce.
Sun (today), LFT is still +ve, although the line took a little longer to appear, and is not as bold as the one Fri. I got the PCR result from the walk-in done on Thurs (+ve). Heartrate is back to normal, Throat and cough still unchanged.
According to the new rules here, if I get a clear LFT on Mon & Tues (which are days 6/7 since my first PCR test was +ve) then I'm good to go. None of my mates other 3 household members have had a +ve result as of today, and remember he would have been freely mixing with them for several days. My Brother has not have a +ve LFT either.
30 secs of chat with that blatant ramper and she'll move on.
If some people think shotgunning emails is going to increase the SP.....
shows you were sentiment is on this share, the mere mention of lft by a minister on an news item last year would have seen the SP respond. Now a minister says they are tripling capacity, cites 300M a month...and zippo.
"GB news"...lol, shoulda named themselves "baby fox news"
called back to do what exactly, the dont have a contract...they dont have a gov selected test
"I just registered,it asked if I was comfortable doing a prick test."
and ?
