Won't the consolidation wipe out the profit of the payout? So unless you hold shares in an ISA all you end up with is a tax bill. I had shares some time back in a company that did this, unfortunately I can't remember who it was, but I do remember that I did not have a big enough holding to be liable for any tax.
and I nearly put my money into Yamana
"but let's not forget that he does not have any direct input to any of these projects, they are entirely in the hands of the contractors" - Who hired the contractors? Who do they answer to?
"due to kick in before the end of December" Due on whose say so?

Should do well now they've positioned themselves as a multi outlet Chinese takeaway.
Don't care where the sp goes as long as first pour sends it upwards. Also don't care if first pour is a month or 2 late.

If they don't get moving there will be no waste left for Billingham
The Camerons pub in my town was told to close some months ago and told to expect to be closed until March. I'm surprised the same has not happened to the Marstons pub. They have never done food and have for a long time survived on being packed full on Friday and Saturday nights.
My guess is that the money for the deal will come from China as it continues its colonisation of Africa policy. It will also help them with their rumoured ban on importation of Australian copper.
Meredith, please do not act on any advice given here (yes I know that is advice), people are guessing. If your husband cannot make decisions consider when you need the money from the sale of these shares. In the long term (5 years) shares will outperform cash in the bank even with a rights issue.
My guess is that they have the takeaway side and staffing levels well organised so don't expect much damage from another shut down. There again it will probably tank tomorrow.
This is just across the River Tees from Billingham

Starting to get boring isn't it?
I suspect that my local Marstons will be one of the casualties. They have never done food so daytime trade has always been limited and profitable times appeared to be Friday and Saturday nights when it would be rammed which obviously no longer happens. I don't use the place these days as I don't like the beer but I had some of my first underage pints in there. It was not the police you had to watch for but school teachers. It caused difficulties bumping into your geography teacher in the toilets. Especially as in those days they still had corporal punishment in schools, you would spend the weekend wondering if you would get a call to report to the headmasters office on Monday morning. Happy days.
That sounds like a grade 1 fob off.
