Public Accounts committee: NHS Test & Trace13 Jul 2021 17:17
I tweeted about this earlier with an extract from the committee hearing. £1.7 billion has been added to the 2021-22 test and trace budget from last year's underspend for tests. The same committee heard Johnathan Mason, Director of Public Health explain about a range of pilots that have helped inform how to get more people testing. Jenny Harries, CEO of the new UK Health Security Agency will have responsibility for test and trace from October 1st until 'the foreseeable future'. Jenny confirmed that 25 million people have downloaded the NHS app. The future model for test and trace will focus on looking at the impact of new variants so antibody testing will come into it's own. They will be working more closely with the US on a Centre for Pandemics. The goal was always to build capacity for scale. Testing ain't going anywhere. Bought another 30,000 shares this morning.
