I think while we were getting excited about Peter Benson's leak that we have an accurate poc antibody home test we missed the reason for the delay. He said it's ready and they are just getting ready to SCALE UP. I can see why you would wait to announce approval. PHE are heavily associated with the national strategy but they are also the regulator to approve the tests. They are heavily invested politically and emotionally I expect, in delivering a successful way forward. So why not sit on the approval in full knowledge of the RTC, meaning the RTC can start preparing for mass production now. Then the approval and delivery can come on stream almost together.
They are having to manage massive public expectations and scrutiny. If they announce approval and then there's a delay to production every James Dyson and his donkey are going to be shouting about how they can manufacture the product and the government are holding onto the patent. That's a lot of noise to have to deal with.
I think they will hold until they are ready to go if they can. Although the Roche/Abbot situation will put the pressure on if they don't really want to buy from them, knowing that a simpler, cheaper test is round the corner.

Read this to avoid confusion. The third pillar of the government policy is about mass testing with home testing antibody kits. The policy says they haven't been developed yet- published weeks ago. It recognises a range of partnerships with industry and universities for different elements of the 5 pillars. The 5 pillars starts with lab tests for patients, NHS workers, their families, other key workers and then everyone. The everyone part assumes home kits.
Benson has let the cat out of the bag. His second interview with Laura Keunsberg on the CV19 show didn't mention us again so he will have been reprimanded- it is against the law to give out information affecting share prices before the market has been informed. It's potentially imprisonable if someone benefits from it. Benson probably didn't realise that ODX is on the stock market because the other companies in the consortium aren't public.
So our test is ready and at some point it will get submitted for PHE approval. Probably explains why government aren't committing to buy Roche and Abbott tests on mass. They are lab tests- the ones which are approved.

Say that Abbot have announced PHE approval tonight. So they are the second test referenced at the briefing. The Guardian says government are not rushing to buy them but Abbott are saying they are ready to agree orders.
The ONS reference to the Oxford university led team is obviously us because 1. Oxford are leading the consortium and 2. The RTC (with ODX of course) is developing a home test for a mass market which Benton was talking about.
So we might see another RNS for PHE or we might have to wait if they are going to announce it when they are ready to go, having 'scaled up'.

Lb28 do try to keep up. You are irritating. We are excited because a serious actor, Director of ONS has said that our test is ready and being scaled up. You are sharing a study that he was being interviewed about. In the interview he talks about the next series of studies and the fact that they will be using a new antibody test suited for mass testing. Maybe try to pay attention before you start trying to throw your weight around.

It's commercially sensitive because it will effect the share price! The Roche news has been released. They are meant to tell shareholders first. It's the law.

Jm4910, the survey you have shared is the scope for the survey that has just been published. In his interview he is talking about much bigger surveys they have planned as part of a regular series of assessments on the cv19 impact on the UK population.

The way out of lockdown will be test, trace and isolate. South Korea did it with imperfect tests without a lockdown but they used a surveillance app. Looks like we are looking at that too now. It won't work with lab tests. The market is spooked today.L&G are having to sell because insurance companies are having to find billions. They have no choice. It would be good to see how much they have sold actually.

The Roche project will soon be seen as too slow to meet the government's ambitions for mass testing. Probably before it's even manufactured. But it serves a good role in getting the nuance of testing, especially antibody tests, out more strongly in the public eye.
Animal spirits drive markets don't they? Today has been a real downer for the markets as a whole. Nowt but bad news. Depression threatening. Unemployment through the roof in the US. Trump and China going at it. UK GDP coming in at -2%. Much worse expected for q2. Blimey. No good for investors confidence. But the thing about animal spirits is that we can't stay down for long. We start looking for a way out. This firm and it's product is going to be the blueprint for the way out. As soon as we get the right news we will see trading volumes go through the roof. It could happen any time. You traders are taking a massive risk. But hey, the rest of us are onto the best stock in the market so all good.

I don't usually hold with scrutinizing everything in the news but 'the government haven't been able to speak to Roche yet'. Really? More likely the government know that the real 'gamechanger' is next up ;)

The Roche test is only a lab test. 18 minutes for skilled practitioners to process- a couple of days to wait for the appointment if you are lucky, or very sick. This will be half way redundant before it's even been manufactured. When the RTC home antibody test comes out it will blow Roche out of the water.
Good to raise awareness about what a a antibody test is though. Helps to develop a market. Making myself laugh at that last sentence! ODX test will go stratospheric as soon as it appears. It will go like toilet paper!

Is it worthwhile to buy level 2? Can you see trading volumes accurately in real time?

I feel sorry for the anxious traders who sell a good stock on a dip and then watch it bounce back straight off! It's not easy being a pi at the moment. If it ever was? I think the mms have a vested interest in making it hard for us. If we sell good stock they will buy it themselves for as low a price as they can get away with, knowing they will raise the price in a mo to sell it into the rise for an immediate profit. But more than that, they are part of the banking community. They would rather we pay a broker who will take a management fee on top of all the other little earners they have from being networked up with each other. So if they can scare the horses now and again, they sure will. You don't have to engage though do you?

Gavin Williamson has told ITV that all school children with any symptoms will be tested by June . It seems to me that there is confidence in the cabinet that testing capacity will be sorted by June.
