I'm well aware of the contents of previous posts. My post was directed at Theorist and was quite specific. I'm not aware of any other "comparison" being made in any subsequent poster.

The issue is quite simple. A previous poster said a project manager in the offshore O&G industry he was friends with looked at photographs of Araguaia and implied that progress figures quoted by the company didn't align with what he was seeing. He quoted electrical as the one discipline that would take a long time and that it didn't look like it had started. I can tell you, from personal experience, that EI&T in the offshore oil and gas industry is far more involved, time consuming and costly than anything Araguaia will be involved in. A PM in O&G will have an entirely different perspective on EI&T.

That's what the original post was about. If you require proof let me know and I'll post a few photographs of EI&T being installed in the last top side I was involved in building. That might give you a better idea of what it entails.

You believe your own research, if you've done any. If you don't known and can't make a useful contribution perhaps the best thing do is say nothing. After all its better to remain quiet and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

I remember the post you are referring to. If I recall the chaps mate worked in the O&G sector as a project manager. He seemed to think that things were nowhere near as advanced at Araguaia as the percentage claimed and highlighted the extent of cable pulling needed as an example. The EI&T content in an offshore topside is far greater than anything that would be needed at Araguaia. Every bulkhead you penetrate needs to be sealed, there's redundancy you will not need at Araguaia and instrumentation that has no comparable requirement in a land based project. The control room on an offshore platform alone probably requires as many cable terminations as the whole of Araguaia. The working environment in an offshore topside is far more restrictive as well.

The comparison was not a like for like.

Older plant and numerous re-designs and upgrades to improve output it doesn't look to me like what's going on at Araguaia is out of the ordinary and certainly not something that's going to cause the "Big Boys" to pick the ball and say "it's my ball and I'm going home".
