I've been highlighting that particular issue for years. The CCP is behind a lot of these Chinese companies and they don't play by "market" rules. In many respects, in a lot of areas, its game set and match to the Chinese. The West has been asleep at the wheel. Their free market rhetoric of years gone by would have been fine if everybody had played by "free market" rules but they didn't.

Who are the green EV manufacturers? Every car manufacturer is fighting for market share at the moment as we pivot from ICE to EV and the one thing that helps them in their pursuit of increased market share is price. If its dirty nickel or LFP or whatever that helps them achieve that then that's what they will look to use.

Hitching your wagon to the green agenda thinking that that's the only story in town is a dangerous one. That's what many of the previous group of Horizonte cheerleaders did (no dig or offence intended) and that hasn't ended well. The markets are far more nuanced than single issue trends.

I think you'll find that a lot of the nickel produced from sulphides is a by product which will keep on entering the market no matter what the price does. The last time we had a collapse in the price of nickel Norilsk kept producing the stuff because it came along with their the PGMs. Its not just a simple case of price.

The "clean" nickel argument sounds compelling but its going to take time before it gets going and beds in fully. OEM's, Tesla included, haven't shied from securing nickel from Indonesia so that gives you some idea where their priorities are.

Araguia's primary market isn't battery cathode metal anyway and that seems to me to be the principal ESG driver. Split the market and label nickel clean/dirty if you like but until Horizonte's principal market is batteries I don't think its going to impact their prospects much.

I hope you any Rover62 are right but there seems to me to be a lack of visibility in the nickel market and has been for quite some time. If he suits the Chinese for nickel to bump along at current levels that's where is will remain. We shall see soon enough.
