I can’t see a potential off-taker having an input in the TEO if by that you mean dictating the contents. The TEO requires an indicative off-take to give the submission a commercial dimension. It’s a non-binding off-take but it gives the project the credibility it needs to show that its viable. It’s a bit like the difference between a resource and a reserve in a JORC where the former confirms the deposit, the latter that it’s viable to fund and extract.

I still think the recent hiatus has resulted from somebody taking umbrage at the suggestion that the whole of KM was on the verge of being tied up in a binding off-take. The only bit of head scratching I’m still struggling with is AH being moved down a peg, Paul McKay resigning then popping up as the sole director of Carlo Holdings Ltd. I would have to assume the AH/PMcK development is necessary manoeuvring for what’s being planned/what’s to come. If it weren’t but something nefarious AH would be out the door.

I’m still of the opinion that somebody or somebodies somewhere decided on a pre-emptive strike before the whole off-take thing went too far.

As for buying into Nathan River Resources I still struggle to make that one add up. The only thing that makes sense is it provides life after Kun Manie.

Covid is the most likely reason for th delay in submitting the TEO, that and Russia celebrating Christmas on 7th. January.

We will just have to wait until this all plays out.

The grades look fine. The issue, however,is not the grades that a couple of samples have thrown up but the extent, continuity and size. That's going to involve an awful lot of drilling and therefore money to establish. I'm sure you've seen this type of development graph before:-

Tertiary are on the extreme left hand side with the high risk/high reward mountain still to climb. The risk is, of course, that the samples are a one off and the size and continuity are simply not there. Tertiary has, after all, been at the bottom of this mountain many times before.

They may be on the cusp of discovering economic quantities of gold, silver, copper in one of the most explored regions in the north hemisphere. We will just have to wait and see.

One of the interesting things to look out for with StoreDot will be production. The big problem with moving away from a 1:1:1 chemistry to a more nickel rich formulae is the production process. You need an inert environment for nickel rich battery production which requires an entirely new production line to the one used to produce 1:1:1 batteries. That's an expensive re-tooling process. If ShareDot have managed to develop a way of producing their batteries without that problem it should make commercialising these batteries easier and cheaper.

That's a much better article and well worth reading especially the bit you highlight confirming that they're working on 8:1:1 batteries. Thanks for posting.

The issue now is the infrastructure required to roll out fast chargers and the likely demand on the grid although I doubt that's going to be a problem in the long run as people re-change at home over night or at the office during the day. With cars sitting idle for 94% of the time there should be plenty of time to re-charge at a far more leisurely pace.

As for class 1 nickel I'm not convince that supply is necessarily a problem right now or quite possibly for the next 3 to 4 years. 300,000+ tonnes of class 1 nickel does into making stainless steel at the moment. Substituting that for ferronickel would be the obvious way to address increasing demand for class 1 in the immediate to near term. 2023/24 onward is a different matter.

After a little bit of further digging it seems Tesla has firm orders for 2,000 semis with a prediction from Wood MacKenzie that the market for semis in the US alone will grow to 54,000 by 2025 (37,800 tonnes of nickel). That one company, one vehicle, one country.

Scary to think where this all might go.

Its the Tesla semi with its 1MWh battery that's interesting. At the moment Tesla has 745 pre-roders for the semi. On the same calculation of 0.7kg of nickel per KWh each semi would required 700kg of nickel for the battery alone. Five times the amount of nickel in the semi as the truck, ten times the amount as a Model 3. Once they've perfected autonomous driving Tesla semis will take asignificant market share.

It would be good to think that this company has turned it around and is now onto something worthwhile but past experience would suggest otherwise.

Any ideas what's going on with the Pyramid gold project? That was the most recent, but one, project that was going to turn things around was it not?
