Interesting graphics in that article. Nickel up, cobalt down. I guess that's to be expected with the move to 8:1:1 batteries and ultimately cobalt being thrifted out altogether. Might take a few years but that's the way it appears to be going. At least it means more nickel as a consequence.

I’d be happy with 40p tomorrow but the longer this goes on, the higher nickel goes and the further down the development we are the less 40p is going to look like a good deal.

With the policies currently in place 50% of vehicles on the road will still be ICE by 2040. Your "....nearly everyone is driving electric....." target is way into the distance if things don't change. ULEZ's are a good example of restrictions on the use of ICE vehicles. Its just a matter of time, IMO, before these restriction become more pervasive.

Time will tell.

Very true. In fact there's a whole series of things we can look back on and wonder at how we ever accepted them as either normal and reasonable.

There was an interesting discussion on this topic several months ago on another BB. If you look at what the government raises in fuel duty then compare that with the cost of RTA's (this assumes self drive cars which are expected to reduce RTA's by over 90%) they're close to parity. Then add into the equation the savings from reduce d health care costs as a result of pollution and you're ahead. And that's just two cost benefits from EVs. Admittedly one requires the wholesale adoption of self driving cars but you get the picture.

Remember when wi-fi first appeared? When you were out and about and on the go and wanted a signal (this was before 3G/4G etc.) you had to pay? That didn't last long as cafes, pubs, motor way service stations all started to offer free wi-fi to attract business. The same, IMO, will happen with EV charging eventually. In fact I can charge an EV for free at my local garden centre.

It's all very new at the moment. It's anybody's guess as to how this is all going to develop.

You're clearly not taking into account the "nobody can tell me what to drive" brigade. There will be a fairly stubborn cohort who will steadfastly refuse to switch right up until the bitter end. There's also a world of difference between a market induced transition and regulation. If we are going to tackle climate change in the timeframe necessary to avoid the worst consequences of our historical indifference to the environment we will need more than market forces to ride to the rescue.

The prediction, IMO, is still on the pessimistic side. How long is it going to before countries start to ban not just the sale of ICE vehicles but the use?

I think the UK after the name Marlborough UK Micro Cap Growth Fund is a bit of a give away. If you're not convinced by that their web site would seem to confirm they're UK based.

Horizonte only need to speak to their registrar to establish if somebody is holding above the 3% or 5% thresholds. You would have to hope they do take an interest in who holds and accumulates signifcant numbers of shares. If they don't they run the risk of being blind sided by a hostile bid.

Interesting. Around 31.07.2020 Horizonte's share price was 3.4p so 100m shares would come to £3.4m.

Holding over 3% and declaring that you hold over 3% is not the same thing. I'd be interested to hear what Marlborough has to say on this issue, if anything.

The stand out comment from that article by Steen Jakobsen at Saxo bank was, IMO, this.
