Tax, never anyone’s favourite subject yet one I’ve been thinking about.
I was hoping that food supplements are zero-rated for VAT as most, but not all, foods are.
However, it appears that food supplements e.g. vitamin and mineral supplements, which is probably how our product will be classified, are standard rated for VAT.
This is important because if standard rated at 20% then 25pence of the £1.50 selling price (£1.25 x 20%) goes straight to HMRC and our top line revenue would be £1.25. If zero-rated, we would keep the whole £1.50.
Does anyone else have any thoughts? Can anyone confirm?
I listened to the interview with Stuart yesterday. I was intrigued to hear him give an albeit hypothetical example of how 100k registrations could potentially generate 50k consumers which in turn could potentially generate 25k successful outcomes. These numbers, IF, IF achieved by early 2022 would be phenomenal, although clearly Stuart was not making a forecast and neither am I.
We cannot possibly know with certainty how revenues will develop but I’m more comfortable today with my investment than I was even at the start of the week. Good job really as it’s now my largest investment by far. GLA
Fantastic, many thanks for the link Belgrano. I thought Stuart may do a proactive interview today but hadn’t seen it before your link.
In the RNS this morning it was stated the team has been busy developing the marketing campaign for AxisBiotix.
I have a question which if you read this Elric it would be great to ask Stuart during your interview tomorrow.
Question: is the marketing campaign being developed with the support of the psoriasis associations or is it in any way linked to these associations?
If the answer is yes, I will buy myself an extra special glass of wine on Friday evening. GLA
Thanks Elric. Reassuring update. Holding strong and looking forward to some hopefully good announcements.
Phat
This is only my opinion but I can’t help think that the Croda news is possibly the main meal whilst the psoriasis treatment is the side dish.
If we are really going to be told, as suggested, that twelve leading global cosmetics companies are going to launch products, perhaps even product ranges, using our ingredient then this really would be enormous news. I repeat, if it happens.
We’ve all had to be very patient here. As you say, the time until announcements is getting closer. GLA
I did read a while ago that approval is required to sell Axisbiotix as a food supplement. Hopefully this will not pose a problem. I’d appreciate if someone can confirm this and explain the process.
But given the approvals are outstanding, as we haven’t heard anything to the contrary, it may be that our team is waiting for this to be achieved before pressing ahead with PR and more overt discussion on psoriasis forums and the like.
Is this a reasonable assumption do you think?
Hi Tedjames
Have a look at the interview SA did with Proactive Investors on 27 April.
Sorry I can’t provide the link here but it’s on their website.
Almost at the end of the interview SA states Sederma is already scaling up to 20k litres and will complete this process in the autumn.
Hi belgrano
Not sure if I qualify as a member of the ‘old gang’ but I’ve been here a good while and I’ve no plans to sell one share.
In my opinion these lulls between major announcements tend to cause some retracing but I’ve not seen anything yet I dislike here. In fact the opposite so I’m staying put.
And I’m certainly not going to sell now with the plan of buying back later at a cheaper price. This works for some and good luck to them but it’s not my strategy.
As our route to market seems to be online registrations and subscriptions the relationships we establish with the various national psoriasis associations will be key.
I’ve been looking at some of these sites and whilst they discuss current scientific endeavours to cure or alleviate the symptoms of psoriasis I’ve found no mention yet of Sbtx and our consumer study.
I would imagine this is something SA is working on right now.
Does anyone have any information on this and what we might expect in the future?
MilkyTea, many thanks for sharing your experiences with the trial. I appreciate it. I’ve been invested here for a while and your comments help confirm my belief that this company is destined for great things.
However, on days like this when the sp falls sharply it can sometimes make you question your beliefs.
Investing in small, hopefully high growth companies is certainly not for the faint hearted, that’s for sure. Good luck everyone.
As always, some good and helpful comments on this board.
Been with Sbtx for a while now, delighted with the progress made and not selling a bean.
I echo these comments entirely. Wonderful news and well worth the wait.
I think you missed me before. My prediction is 85p.
Belgrano, how you describe Opti investors selling down their shareholdings following the less than spectacular RNS back in March in favour of buying Sbtx made me chuckle because that is precisely what I did.
And like you, the rise in Sbtx since then has allowed me to recoup Opti losses and some.
There is a logic to reinvesting further sums back into Opti but it’s the old adage, once bitten twice shy.
There is so much I like about this company, that’s why it’s my largest holding, but ultimately it all comes down to product performance.
I would love to believe the positive rumours concerning the consumer trial but I’m old enough not to take anything for granted.
A big week ahead for us. Let’s enjoy it and hope we get the great results we’re all hoping for.
skid, brilliant, there you go. So we’ve got solid pedigree on our side. I’d like to add one more to your list, the microbiome and in particular the gut to skin pathway.
Here’s a thought for Friday morning.
Another characteristic I personally love about Sbtx is that we are effectively a commercial arm of one of the science teams of Manchester University.
We’re probably and hopefully talking about really capable scientists here.
Remember, it was at Manchester University about 100 years ago that the atom was first split.
Now, I’m not saying we are looking at a scientific breakthrough of that magnitude here but if it turns out to be one hundredth as impactful we’ll do pretty well I reckon.
Happy Friday everyone.
This morning proves this is no game for the faint-hearted, that’s for sure. If this turns out as we all hope we should all take a certain amount of satisfaction from this journey. Personally I’m well over-invested here, holding more than my own investing rules suggest, so I needed a pretty strong coffee earlier on I don’t mind saying.
Ok, close of play on RNS day of 85p. I think it will peak higher if it is as positive as we all hope but profit takers naturally will bring it down at market close.
