Lots of vendors do lots if things but unless you understand what they are you get lead down blind alleys. Ethernity are Telco focused, many SmartNIC are not aimed at Telco. There are DU NICs but they have little functionality beyond network interface. Ethernity product is unique with the 10 port configuration as it is a appliance for DU rather than a NIC that can be used on the DU. Other parties have DU virtualisation and they can be used on ACEnic-100. The positioning of the DU is the main difference between products.
I can't see any other comparable in the market. The router-on-FPGA is not applicable in all scenarios and not all the server family will have them.
The significant point here us this has been instigated by the server providers. The current offering will be evaluated then the server providers and Ethernity will develop the product to the specific requirements of provider.
The trials are simple evaluations to determine performance parameters.
The requirements for a router-on-FPGA are determined by the way the servers are used.
