MODERN WATER’S NEW SMARTREADER SIMPLIFIES ANALYSIS OF
ENVIRONMENTAL SOIL AND WATER TEST KITS
Modern Water plc (AIM:MWG), the owner of leading water technologies for the production of
fresh water and monitoring of water quality, has today launched its new SmartReader. The
Modern Water SmartReader is a photometer that can be used with any of its RaPID assay
and EnviroGard range of test kits which effectively monitor the quality of drinking water,
process water, wastewater or soil.
Modern Water’s research and development team have worked hard to find a product that
can be used by anyone, anywhere yet still provide extremely accurate results. The new
SmartReader is that product! The fundamental operating technique applied to the
SmartReader is based on the principles of optical absorbance and scattering of visible light.
The SmartReader provides significant advantages and considerably more accurate
measurements than using traditional photometers. This is achieved by removing the
subjective element of the human eye, and eliminating variable light conditions which can
affect test results.
The SmartReader provides rapid result interpretation and requires much less skill to operate
than deciphering absorbance charts. Its low power consumption also means it can equally
be used as a mobile device or in a laboratory. The SmartReader offers a choice of either
mains power via the USB port or using three 1.5V ‘AA’ batteries (supplied). The technology
has low power consumption, self-diagnostic functionality and wireless connectivity.
The SmartReader is paired with Modern Water’s rugged tablet either via wireless
connectivity and Bluetooth® Smart technology, or a traditional USB connection. Pairing the
devices allows the sample to be read and the results to be sent to the tablet for automatic
interpretation, all with the touch of just one button.
