Nice to see a bit of bounce here!
That's great news! Hopefully we can get a bit of upwards movement here now.
My view is that they will have to make a decision in the current year whether or not to sell the assets with a poor outlook ie Maize and possibly the plantations. They had such a bad six months, while beef appears to have legs. The board may have proved incapable of turning this into profit up until now (and to be fair 2014 was a particularly terrible year - Ebola, political unrest, flooding etc) but they are not stupid enough to just churn the company into the ground without selling their assets in a timely manner, that is of course if things have deteriorated since the last report. I am on a loss here but I will hold for the simple reason that at worst the should get to atleast twice this SP even if they bodge it! It is a pretty good time to buy as we cannot really sink much lower as things considered.
dbentley best of luck with your future investments. I spoke to the company yesterday at length and I am confident that we will see reward over the coming year in the SP if we hold.
yes but that doesnt mean the company itself is in a weak position.....
Look I am not saying the results are ground breaking but 2014 was a pretty torrid year for a number of well documented reasons. Yes we are lucky the oil sale covered the operational loss and we need a small miracle to avoid a loss in the end of year results. However, the NAV is not decreasing 20% a year, i am not sure where that has come from, its been at the same level for a while now. Beef is going very steadily in the right direction and this is clearly the division where the money will be made. As pointed out by Tailender the other divisions need some serious thought and direction, and pretty quickly - whether this is to sell off some of the assets or improve efficiency (which is surely more possible in a less torrid year). At the end of the day, we still made a profit, have a Nav far outstretching the MC. They obviously think the can still turn this company into a profitable one otherwise they would start selling off their assets. Either way we should see some shareholder value in the coming year. My advice would be to sit tight, we have been through a hell of bad a year in terms of the SP (down 68%), it cant get much worse on that side of things. All things considered the current SP is pretty harsh.
im sorry but whats your logic?
are due out tomorrow...
hang in there my friend we will hopefully get back on track this year. Results due before the 28th Feb!
I am still trying to work out what is our next best move?
The market cap is still pathetically low in comparison to assets. This is still well undervalued!!
Jolly - why do you persist? Other than to hammer this share down for an entry point!
are you trying to kick us lower to get in or just trying to sell AGQ? Can you further explain your comments on the weaning (and before you ask I do know what it means). You have recommended this share as a strong sell even though we are clearly well undervalued on the MC and have been pummeled by the Ebola and political scares. The basis of your argument is "in your experience" and to switch to Silver exploration (no different to an oilie!) There is also more here than the beef.
I would be personally extremely upset if the board went to the well for cash from us! Given their poor management of the SP (and consequently us!) it might the last straw for alot of people. Ewan Kay said in an interview this time last year that they were very close to profit and a lot of people including myself investing upon that reasoning. Thankfully he has moved aside since! I still find it fascinating how they are managing to get a company with our NAV trade at such a low SP. We need more investors, big ones and the board need to do more to draw them in! As bad as the board are at investor relations, there is no doubt they are building value within the company and as noted we have been unlucky with Ebola etc over the last few months. I topped up again this week as I believe we are scratching the bottom and have been for a few weeks now. The latest RNS didn't lift us but also didn't bring us any lower. I believe now is the time to get in, ahead of next year as it appears from the figures we should move into profit with relative ease, this coupled with the control of Ebola (hopefully!!) should see the SP disappear from these lowly depths!! ATB and happy hunting!
Yes, agreed this MC situation is ridiculous!! I topped up earlier!

Largely positive despite the obvious challenges politically and with Ebola, we are nearly 3 times below our NAV on the market cap!
If investor relations was better we would not be in this position.
Yep! We are still under the radar
