Gold dips to 2290 area drops CEY 5.5p and Centamin pulls back to 116p area. A fear of 2245 gold puts Centamin on 111p, but the pull back was a bear trap and hence CEY recovered. Then somebody woke up and realised that H1 earnings are at 2210 gold and rising every day when gold is above $2300 per ounce. The revised earnings data give a price of 124-125p for Centamin. Centamin average gold price sold is probably approaching $2025 as we enter Q3. If we get a spike higher on gold Centamin would accelerate higher in value as it would continue to fetch a higher 2024 price sold for all its gold sold within this year.

What is odd is that after securing a year's funding is that somebody wants to off load their stock. It makes little sense to me. Whoever it is they are a persistent pain in the backside. I suppose if somebody wants to rain on a parade using CDF naked shorts that we get this reaction in a stock with limited liquidity.

With EU having reduced their bank rate, UK is likely to follow in August, and I suspect USA will do a 0.25% cut in September. If inflation picks up all the central banks then have the ability to move back up again. If they do nothing and inflation goes up it looks as if their earlier policies were wrong any way and the only option they are left with is embarking on yet higher rates then before to damage the interest sensitive market sector. Gradually existing loans are often coming up with renewal on higher rates and a flat rate prevents negotiating existing debt at a slightly lower rate as well. We have so much of the market supporting NIVIDIA. However utility company stocks and rare earth companies in particular are completely trashed at the moment. There is no breadth in support for the industries that are utterly essential to deliver the essential capability for AI growth. The precious metal miners have been earning great returns in Q2. They report in a few weeks time. The miners are actually undervalued against Q2 earnings at the present time. Fresnillo should be around 601p based upon H1 earnings.

Current valuation I have for Centamin is between 124-125p for H1 earnings with average gold price sold at $2202.

In H2 I expect production to be higher and gold price average in Q3 higher than H1 but similar in Q4. Production alone increase SP by 5p in H2 and gold price average which is currently 2212 per ounce may have a higher average and if it hit 2312 for example the increase is a further 14p. Delivering a high Centamin price of 143p.

If the global demand by 2030 is projected to be 315,000 metric tonnes, they have assumed Western demand is just 7.3% of the global market. It therefore assumes all manufacturing using rare earths just about is massively dominated by Asia. Not sure I would agree with that article.

Both have managed to hold above the previous lows made earlier in June after the quad options. I still believe the pressure of an election State side will see a September rate cut especially if we see a cut by BoE in August.
