NS&I green savings bond info. The bond will be offered through government-backed savings organisation NS&I which offers a range of savings products including premium bonds. The new accounts will allow UK savers to invest in green projects. Funds raised via the bond will be earmarked for projects such as renewable energy and de-carbonising transport.

Most of my frustration was seeing the Infrastructure bill remove all Climate initiatives yesterday in USA. Having Merkel back track on Germany with their continued coal use at G7 and the Green bond in the UK not likely to appear to the autumn. i sense these elements have not helped since the placing a few days ago. The problem is with all the climate change agenda stock. HZM and Pensana in the same direction and same graph on a monthly chart read and 3 monthly. The politicians across the board (especially in Germany) have mouthed off about climate change, set targets and then do practically nothing or worse still impede progress from happening. As a result some investors are piling back into oil stocks again. Its the exact opposite of last summer. This trend is going to stoke up a big response. In the UK its not having green bonds next month which is very annoying which makes the UK chancellor all mouth and no action. Pensana also relies on the freeport status and the RNS this morning re-emphasised its importance. The issue is not lack of interest, its lack of political action and lack of funding support from the banking sector.

USA funding the answer is most likely no. Pensana is heavily European focussed. UK green bonds was to be available in July and a lot of people asking where has it got to as Treasury was to lead on it and set up the facility in Yorkshire. Pensana could be open to European sources of funding and the reason is that the end product is predominantly for the European market. Hence why the competition with Lynas is not strong as they are focussed on USA and Asia along with USA producers operating for their home market. To go to huge lengths to produce a product with low carbon tariff and then waste it on carbon fuelled transport across the globe does not make that much sense.

City likely to be shut down completely from 23 August with extinction rebellion rally. A lot of frustration is building with all the talk of climate change initiatives and nothing is moving along with much speed. Notting Hill Carnival also cancelled on Covid restrictions that was to happen a few days later. A recipe for trouble around that time to avoid if you want to.

The alternative to placements are warrants from banks that eventually become shares when the warrant is due for payment. The company made it clear in the April RNS that it needed funds and risks of not having such funds were made known as the going concern. The placing avoids interest rates that may be paid on a debt warrant. The dilution would easily be supported by the 70% of the major share holders. They probably telephoned a few in advance to get the nod anyway.

The discount on HZM likely to end within a few days. Once H2 starts the count down to production is on for real.

Should get H1 output news in July and a better idea of what the company is doing in H2.

I will soon be off for the day on walk, but placed a 100,000 buy order on the book on 14.xp and that may have possibly encouraged prices to move higher. It will expire at the close tonight. (Just do not want to miss a bargain on a day off). If I am right on that point it suggests a shortage of Shanta shares available.

Round the trap

My guess is that a sulphate has to be treated under pressure with hydrogen gas in an autoclave device of some sort under pressure. A carbonate has to be heated to much higher temperatures like releasing some Co2 but delivers the metal oxide and is more energy intensive. The facilities would likely be different, but they could be facilitated on the same site provided they had their own feed lines and separate goods inwards separation and then carbonate and sulphate feeds were processed separately as well. The key is having the space to do such a separation.

This goes to the point that the company needs to have a reiteration with us ordinary investors to clarify what they have written in various RNS documents so that we have a better handle in understanding how it all works. Such a discussion would then improve the investment case otherwise we have more questions than answers as we struggle on how this all works and how much it costs and whether it is environmentally friendly.

The Company is in active discussion with third parties for the additional supply of sustainably sourced rare earth carbonates and will look to expand production capacity once such feedstock becomes available. Pensana is therefore not entirely using the Angola mine resource for its production in Saltend. The plant is to deal with sulphate as well as carbonate MREC sources.

Should say grant news could be in July as decision making is not in the gift of the company.

Dp was a heavy investor in synairgen and made similar trading moves on that stock to myself between July and October 2020. Both of us scored big on that move so his handle name is not what he lives up to with investment practice. I went back in afterwards and remain in synairgen where DP has a token investment and we probably differ where that share is now going. We both have similar trade positions in Rainbow Rare earths although he probably holds more than I do. DP values the stacks as they are on his methodology as proferred by the company CEO and arrived at a value of 400p a share. I used metrics that would be applied if it were a mine like some of the analysts have chosen to do as it was the only logical reason why the share today is only 15p and those figures give a 1 year figure of 30p for Rainbow, 40p at two years going to 60p. Unfortunately DP got upset that I used different numbers as the stacks are post-mined and he is correct on that point. However, until Rainbow earns big monies the analysts will keep using the wrong model as I have, but that is how it is.

As for Pensana, DP has followed all what was published recently on other forums about information not divulged by Pensana at this time. Some of those points were answered and some were not and a few may well be resolved through new innovations that are on-going. I doubt he is invested with Peak and is probably not shorting the stock. The reality is, Pensana have not divulged a lot of information as they know Lynas and Chinese producers may exploit for their benefit. The downside is that we have not got all the investment information at this time. I suspect a lot more information will be made known during the coming months. What is unfair is to just assume the worse scenario as the company is securing its funding through banks when a fair amount of evidence is that more informed sources were happy to continue financing the company as it works up a case to secure financial approval. The next key news will be in July on grant news and whether they were successful in getting some funds to build the Saltend plant.

Lots of physical gold discounts in India and hardly any in USA and UK. Looks like Asia physical buying getting a good hand which often happens on their bulk buying for the jewellery trade. The jewellers need to buy first, make the physical into products and we get the high gold prices when they change hands in the wedding season for September and October. Gold is behaving in a seasonal way especially as wedding catch ups because of Covid-19 pandemic created backlogs. I would expect the sales to end either this week or next week. Everything else is just noise to keep Bloomberg reporter staff busy.
