Ken - That's quite interesting, we always book direct with the cruise line, we did book once with Cruise club and that was all fine too, back in 1985 I was at sea on the way to Antarctica on the John Biscoe and we did stop off in madeira and were invited on the Canberra for a day . We also are quite happy with P&O and Cunard similar in terms of service etc. Every cruise we do we get OBC to be honest my wife loves it and it is a little perk.
bhants - I agree 100% we always do Adult only we have grand children and we do like to see the kids enjoying themselves but we do prefer a cruise as adults only although sometimes the adults give plenty of amusement !!
Aangus1 - I hope you find the cruise that suits you but going from and back to Southampton on either P&O or Cunard is so easy and affordable. Like ken has stated once you have decided on the places you would like to visit and it fits with your times/budget etc. you cant really go wrong with these cruise lines. A cruise is what you make it good luck in your search.

Hi bhants - Hilarious I also thought that about PL he always seems like the new kid at school, my parents were on that one and they are also sailing down to Caribbean as we speak on arvia and they have advised it was great no problems I think it was just a few who had a struggle getting a table etc., to be honest we were recently on arcadia for a while and again it was great but the reviews prior to our cruise were awful !! I think its what you make it a lot of the time. I'm sure Arvia is a lovely ship but too big for us !

Hi Ken - I bet you enjoyed that one, I wonder what the difference is between 2017 & now in terms of price I think a balcony on the w/c on arcadia is around £36k ! Things are most certainly different now in all walks of life people coming to terms with Covid etc. but the ships do seem full up, I remember talking to Martyn the current captain on arcadia and he said if bookings are not strong enough Aurora will not sail to S/A so obviously they are. It does look a lot better now fingers crossed !

What is reassuring now is that all there ships are at sea, Arcadia on her w/c, Aurora on her s/a & Arvia off to the Caribbean, those were the three i was skeptical about hopefully no glitches , bookings must be very healthy so I can see the spring SP being a lot stronger than recently.

Quite agree certainly being manipulated somewhere although I would imagine CCL having another big bill with queen Victoria in dry dock even though insurers will be invoked !!
I still think 2023 will improve its early days still

bhants- that sounds lovely she is a lovely ship and certainly no issues from what we could see, she was at capacity but you would never of guessed it plenty of room to chill

Just a quick update , just returned off the beautiful Arcadia from a long back to back cruise, all very lovely very busy on board no signs of any issues , everything open as usual , service exceptional etc, future cruise desk packed everyday so bookings must be very strong indeed. Hopefully 2023 is the turn around year for CCL.

I've just ready the full story regarding Arvia cruise and the complaints around Christmas time, to be perfect honest P&O need to stop apologizing and get it right first time they are a very long standing and great company but with things struggling like they are they do not need to encourage bad press like this. Very disappointing for some people on that cruise.
Come on P&O you are better than this.

bhants - I tend to agree we prefer the smaller ships, we are at sea at present and everything is pretty normal , service slightly down, little penny pinching scenarios but nothing to be too concerned about.
I did see one guy being asked to leave the MDR as I think he had a bit to drink and he was awfully rude about the food so not sure if we will see him again !

Reading the comments I do agree CLL have a huge mountain to climb and lets hope no new COVID variants appear as if they do I'm really not sure these Travel companies could get through another shut down etc.

Chin up and hopefully the latter part of 2023 will show some better signs of recovery.

Hi ken, yes I have just read about that at an apparent cost of 3.5 billion !!!!! What a shame in my view, still I won’t get started on that subject !! Away again soon on Arcadia just enjoy it while we can !!

Quite interesting they mention two costa ships but I wonder which one the third one is ? My guess it’s going to be Aurora or Arcadi !!

bhants - Very true indeed, there also be people who do not understand the balance sheet (no offence to anyone) and this will determine there judgement I am however quietly confident.

Inflation - Quite agree I've just averaged down again imo its a good way to play this share, like I said previously we are still very fresh from the Covid dilemma and 2023 with no WW3 or a repeat of Covid etc should see an improvement. Definitely patience needed with this one.

All in all that looks a strong balance sheet albeit slow but steady. Customer deposits very strong indeed and the balance sheet for bookings for 2023 very strong indeed. Once news has digested hopefully a re-rate and for me a definite top up opportunity.

If it is a negative today when results are released I will be back in again to top up to a large amount again.

Lets hope slightly positive though !!
