NG Energy (GASX)
This was the Gas play that Dock Jones did a research piece on and promoted pretty heavily 18m to 2 years back. Based in Columbia it was an exploration and development play. The main assets – SINU-9, Maria Concheta & Tiburon. None of them producing at the time and a bit like i3e- they bought at the bottom of the market for cents on the dollar. SP currently sitting at around CAD 0.90 with a high of just over CAD 2.00 18 months ago when Doc was promoting it. It hit a 2 year low 4-5 months back at around CAD 0.56 due to poor delivery but have recently shot up to CAD 0.90 on recent developments. Full disclosure – I have about $30k worth currently losing about 20%
I’ll start with the cons:
1) Columbia – enough said!
2) SERAFINO IACONO, CEO – he is a successful Investor / entrepreneur, but he’s a CEO’s ass in my opinion. Not delivered on any of his promises in a timely manner. Maria Conchita is currently producing at 7mmscf/day. It should have been producing at 20mmscf/day nearly 18 months ago per the timelines he set out. This is currently their only producing asset.
3) A lot of dilutive financial instruments used to maintain operations.
Pro’s
1) BRIAN PAES-BRAGA, Chairman – new to the Company. Relatively young billionaire entrepreneur. He seems to have a vision for the Company and already the messaging seems to be much better
2) Heavy Insider buying – including Brian and the CEO
3) Scheduled to up production at Maria Conchita to 20mmscf/day next month which takes it cash flow positive – lets see whether they deliver.
4) Large discoveries at SINU-9 that could take reserves into the 1Tscf range and production hopefully within the next 6 months. The Brujo well tested at around 50mmscf/day across multiple horizons
5) Tiburon – classified as a “lead” – this has multi Tscf potential but no drilling plans as of yet.
6) Prospective light oil in the west part of SINU-9 – potentially a game changer with 280m bbl. – (best case) and they are already planning a drilling campaign.
7) Columbian gas sell at USD 5.50 minimum – a considerable premium to the North American markets!
I think you have to keep an eye on the dilution – but if they deliver – I could see a 2 or 3 bagger from here over the next couple of years. This is my take only !
