Hello jake.. If you had read my story you would have seen my reference to where replacements were not installed once No Signal was found, so no SMETS1. SMETS2 would now replace the old existing dumb meters.

woolley, that's why we need monthly returns. No use saying 250,000 installed without CC saying our numbers and the monthly income. Quick enough to say outgoings but you can't have it one way. Our monthly costs must be reducing by sales all the time.

Now is the time for detailed update on UK Southern Contract. LTI always says that CC needs to keep secrets, well not on this one as it is all signed and just needs installing, which is happening.
There are other opportunities which JC is chasing but UK will be the stabiliser for SP. I would now like to see a monthly report on just UK installations moneywise.
I was surprised to see that the Northern Contract needed 700 towers, that would take some planning approval down here.

I agree with you that JC needs to refine his words and just give the basics without prevarications, shareholders want income with possibly slight inaccuracies. Do not give reasons for putting off.
You have given your negatives all through India and yet CC is progressing well, don't start on at UK now, word is getting round I don't think so. My on the ground contacts have informed me that they are installing as fast as they can get and training more staff. I think that there will shortly be varying tariffs, such as nights, which will attract people.

If as is estimated 4,000 SMETS2 a day are being installed that roughs out at 1,000,000 a year but that is just the start as training increases and the Government wants a speed up.
A possible 30% RF take up means 300,000 a year at the present figures, installations will probably treble.

Bear in mind this is only my opinion and probably wrong and will be told so.
When Smart started in UK and SMETS(1) was being installed by engineers, they carried out tests (now notspots) and if no connection moved on leaving them for future installations (SMETS2) when available, these still have to be dealt with if they were left.
Recently we are told that the first tranche of SMETS2 have been installed, 250,000. If we extrapolate downwards at 30%,probably less, then it is possible for up to 75,000 CC RF Active to have been installed and this will continue.
There is the possibility that 4m of the old SMETS1 sites were bypassed leaving them still to need CC RF.
This is only my thoughts and may be totally wrong.
I feel that 2019 will see a rush to install SMETS2 as they seem to work.

My thoughts may be incorrect but I think UK is all tied up.

Hello. I was looking at SMS last year but uncertain then it fell below 500. Its just been drawn to my notice that SMS has possibly solved the SMETS1 repair situation but is there any premium in this as SMETS1 has finished production and updating will probably be initiated at DCC end. SMETS2 is now well underway. SMS is producing meters but will there be any take up of meters as the likes of Itron are supplying millions.
The communications side is already signed-off using Telefonica, Toshiba and CyanConnode and this is interoperable.
I have shares in the latter. Is there any value in relooking at SMS.

Hello ITT. You could be right but I thought that was the maintenance contract. Also I take it the 10% notspots was going to grow to possibly £37m. so still not too bad.

So what are your thoughts on these figures, equally if not liked what are your alternative thoughts.

Yes, looking at it again was iffy, I was calculating something else at the time.
So roughly £7m (£600,000pm).
SMETS2 £24m divided by say 3 years = £8m. (£670,000pm).
Look better and that is just UK contract.

Hello Colour.. Once again can't you just look on the bright side. We're dooomed, dooomed.
CC had to say this to also cover further R&D otherwise you would be saying look they are wasting more of our money on research. We do not know how much but have to think the worst. Current R&D is covered, hence the June 18 Omni update.

So roughly £700,000 pa (£58,000 pm) costs; so income of £60,000 pm income, I see that as doable. Then it's profit.

Colour, don't think I have been that bad with forecasts. You said CC was doomed in India, not quite true. You said they were not going smart, not quite true. etc etc
We have said over the years 'this is the year' but 2019 would appear to be the year. R&D for present requirements done, UK SMETS2 getting underway, Mysore and surrounding districts getting underway with installations that can be expanded much quicker with Canopy. As JC says politics forms a great part of decision making, so what looks done often takes another year or two, not too much to worry about and breakeven in sight.

Well jake, in this field CC is never going to be the messiah but in the case of SMETS2 RF I understand that they are the sole contractor to DCC. At least that is what I have been told on this point.
Telefonica and Toshiba have the lead on the Southern Contract and that has not changed, they had a problem with SMETS1 and the previous few items is probably the way they resolved it. In the Lab etc ideas work but it is in awkward situations that results are proven, that is the way CC excelled in Mysore.

Hello jake.. If DCC has found a solution to SMETS1 that's fine but it relies on DCC always being up and running. The Government were being questioned over a Whatif scenario, bankruptcy, fire etc.
SMETS1 was never an involvement for CC so will probably not be called upon unless there is problem.
SMETS2 Southern Contract for RF for 'notspots' is a signed contract and I do not think that there is another aligned to DCC

Vas, any idea why SMS SP dropped from 831 in May 18 to 567 in Jan 18.
As I understand it, regarding 'notspots' CC has the sole contract with DCC in that respect so unless anybody knows differently the 10% to 30% is still in sight.

Hello Vas.. Well it looks like they have sorted SMETS1 until they suddenly find another problem.
Luckily it does not affect CC as they were not involved.
Hope we get a bigger slice (30%) of the installations of SMETS2.
