All these blockades of Russian oil might backfire on us too.
Where will the Russians sell their surplice oil? China?
So our industry will suffer yet another blow, and the Chinese will get even cheaper oil and gas to go with their coal powered electric !
The Surrey greens poled just 3.7%, yet they were given huge amount of recognition in policy.
Councils have all adopted climate emergency ignoring 96% of the public ?
We had a policy of net zero 2050 but Boris and the greens have decided on car crash 2030, or 2025 if you want a gas boiler.
This imbalance is coming home to roost as the “Arabia of wind project” fell off its perch .
Penguins: There is some truth in the fact I objected (rightfully) to developers building on “best and most valuable” grade 3a farm land. They distroyed a 52 ha farm. The farmer hanged himself, they had to build an accessable SANG , And play area, adult outdoor gym area., orchard, allotments, by trigger points. First house and 100th house. This was to make it a sustainable development and aleaviat pressures on the solent SPA and National Park
None have been done and they are at house 166.
They also have ignored noise and vibration conditions , use no baffles whilst pile driving ..
They also dumped thousands of tons of soIL, concrete and tarmac ( hazardous substance ) on the grade 3a farmland that will be the SANG.
They have not been stopped by the council.
This is a national house builder that Boris visits regularly.
The council have taken the cash from contributions to transport , sport , bus shelters and I can see no visible spend of that money.
And the bus service that stops at the entrance to the development had its funding removed.
Horse hill would be far better in my back garden than a TW development
Let’s be clear… as the Honda car plant in Swindon fades away, and we buy Chinese electric mgs made from coal fired industry we reduce our uk power use for Chinese coal fired power use, minerals mined for the batteries are not using electric motors.
If you spend £30k on a car, £15k of that goes in energy costs of the materials and production.
If you buy a £12k petrol car , only £6k goes on energy costs
I won’t be driving a Chinese electric car.
If I’m still driving in 2040 I would rather electrify my tr4 than buy one of those tin pot fake mg5 with roof bars that can’t actually carry a load
It is entirely possible UK cold do without the 4% gas we get from Russia by closing some of our industry and buying it in from China who will produce the goods cheaply using coal.
However Europe use 41% Russian gas and Germany about 60% Russian gas.
We have closed our coal, steel works, potteries , clothing industry cars, aluminium next?
The country will just spiral down and China will take over.
You won’t be able to afford cafes and tech goods.. …
Modern houses? Or poverty flats?
Chinese MGs…..
Adrian has already downgraded :-)
There is a geothermal project in the uk that has been running about 50 years.
It heated the Lido, the civic centre , flats , businesses shopping centre .
It’s not deep enough to produce steam or electric .
It was a good experiment , but it was not economic enough to copy.
Maybe the changes in the economics, the drilling and heat recovery technology may make it cost in… maybe we need to go in big and deprive 2-3km , risk a few earth tremors .
The other thing is national parks are banned for fracking. I don’t get that logic.
I don’t want an earth tremors near high rise buildings and tunnels. Surly the place to accept more risk Is where these things don’t exist!
So in a national park you could use an old quart , drill down 3km and generate steam and electric and accept a few tremors. As a trade off against the clean electric.
The same might be said for hydro electric. Trade clean electric for some changes in the river flows and artificial lakes.
"Loxley is an appraisal of a 1980's poorly defined gas discovery and already has 2 failed appraisals"
So the 1980’s appraisals were in the days of slide rules before the desktop PC ?
The slide rule says No! So that’s it ..lol
So… as FOTH declares Basur3 many months away, Steve puts the casing stock on a lorry to Turkey ;-)
Tha satalite images show no snow ( feb 3rd) the UKOG photos show no snow..
The RNS says waiting in one line of seismic processing ..
So how long to ferry a couple of trucks? Process one line of seismic …

Hunt is sponsored by Aquind Energy £15,000 per year to bring French electric to the uk via an interconnect cable.
Ironically, one of the days we were burning coal the two French interconnects were in reverse. We were burning coal to keep the lights on in France!
He lives up-to his nickname Hunt the ……
The latest news is they the Bristol 4 court case May go to the court of appeal .
“Decision causing some confusion”
As far as I know there was no campaign or peaceful marches until the death in America and the #BLM movement rose.
This is supposed to be a democratic country. People chose to live in cities built on the infrastructure of the past. Be that the ports, the coal mines, the steel mills , or the cotswolds built on the money from wool. If you want change , you get the support of people, get elected, make it happen.
Too many people think they should run the country but can’t be bothered to get elected (XR, BLM, Insulate Britain, Greens, Dominic Cummings )
Edward Colston statue case could be sent to appeal court https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-bristol-59909823
And whilst about 15m household will says £2500 fuel bill is “ouch”
The 15 million just about managing house holds it will really hurt.
This will really hurt government finances too.
They will have to soften the blow to pensioners, not just those on pension credits
Universal credit , and ESA. Also cut VAT on fuel.
The argument in drill or drop is floored .
Councils have to give permission for energy projects. It’s law!
If they stand in the common land and are asked to move by police , they have to move .
Waverly councils reported comments are Tosh!
I write this as a retired planning engineer, who regularly got permissions to put plant across Sssi’s national parks, commons, rivers, trunk roads etc. I had coffer dams built in the river test, we had to wheel barrow materials across the common on planks but as long as you don’t harm the common the councils have to give permission
By the end of 2022 the government will be forced which side of the fence it is on.
EU have decided gas is green.
Price rises will have hit consumers hard
Gov is totally fed up with XR, Antivaxers and Insulate Britain
Either they will refuse this appeal, and go totally green, geothermal , wind etc.
Or they will permit , go for gas and take the decisions out of local authorities.
The zero onshore wells in 2021 is matched by the almost zero new wind power delivered in 2021.
1/2 the French nuclear is to shut down as it doesn’t meet standards.
Energy policy is in a mess
When energy prices double in April public attitudes will shift.
