Unfortunately these people are in self-preservation mode clinging to anything that can justify them drilling for more and more oil and gas. Sadly the decision-makers they are lobbying are too often either gullible or not sufficiently educated in the field to recognise the problems these decisions present in the future.

I just wish that the big fossil gas companies would use their skills to manufacture, store and transport green hydrogen instead. I'm pretty sure the costs would rapidly come down if they followed that route now rather than waiting for costs to come down before joining the party - chicken and egg.

SaleSale, I think you mistook my emphasis. I wasn't saying Ukraine are buying ALL our armaments, just that they must be seen to be BUYING our armaments. I'm quite sure we are manufufacturing enough armaments to supply all the despot dictators that want them around the rest of the world. Plenty of fighting all over the place to keep us busy - it seems it's one of the few things left we're good at. It would be nice if we put that sort of support behind hydrogen, and ITM specifically.

taskmaster, I would think that the loans to Ukraine will be written off once the war is ended. Presumably to 'stay out of the war' the West has to make them loans. I would expect that Ukraine are also 'buying' all the defence armaments we're providing so that the West remains a 'neutral bystander'. Otherwise Putin would be be able to state without contention that we are already in the fight and unleash whatever madness he chooses outside of Ukraine. True it would probably be the last thing he ever does, but I wouldn't put it past him, he doesn't seem of sound mind.

I have been looking for ways to voice my disapproval of the current UK position of funding both sides of the war between Russia and Ukraine. In my opinion it is crazy to fund the Russian side through continued purchase of Russian gas whilst simultaneously providing both financial support and defensive military support to Ukraine. I am in full support of the Ukranian people and wish to immediately end our purchase of Russian gas, now rather than the current timeframe of the end of the year.

I have already written to my MP and now I have found a petition someone has started which summarises my wishes. If you feel the same please sign the petition here...

Responses to Kwasi's tweet are full of hydrogen haters, must be easily 80:20 against. It's amazing how people can hate a gas so much.

Politicians who don't understand engineering or physics should not be allowed to make decisions that rely on an understanding of engineering and physics. What was the point of me studying all that if it's those with a degree in art and history that decide our energy future. Totally ludicrous.

I'm disappointed to read that the politicians are once again being conned into thinking that nuclear is the only way to provide energy security. Unfortunately it's so easy to use words like baseload and scare people with wind not blowing and sun not shining that they fall for the idea that nuclear is the only reliable choice. It's condemning us to a future of expensive electricity, risks of nuclear accident, and thousands of years of radioactive waste and post-production cleanup and decontamination when the power station needs decommissioning.

Such a pity they can't see that over the same timeframe they're on (by 2050) that wind, solar, storage and hydrogen also solves the problem at a lower cost, cheaper electricity, and so much cleaner.

Takayama, we're only better with Linde if they're fully invested in the green hydrogen future, specifically with electrolysis. I was watching one of the Linde videos earlier, specifically the one presented by the manager of ITM-Linde and titled Green Hydrogen and it spent way too much time talking about Blue hydrogen for my liking. Linde, it would appear, doesn't care where the hydrogen comes from nor what colour it is. In fact they made mention that with CCS they can even make negative-carbon hydrogen. Whilst they continue to peddle that sort of BS I agree with Bilbs - their heart isn't really in it, they're just covering their bases.

Mark, I've been looking too and can't see any release by the company that relates to this stock issue. I would have thought it mandatory to release this sort of stuff. It does indeed look like the number of shares in issue is up by 98m since the last shares in issue I looked at which was October's. It's a large release of shares (>6%) which would certainly go some way to explain the out-of-the-blue 10% drop middle of last week.

Cynically I'd say this is the third launch of ITM Motive. But ever the optimist I hope this time we actually create some filling stations.

Someone should remind the BBC that nearly everything in life is expensive...just look at BBC presenter salaries. Doesn't seem to stop them presenting though does it?

Linde need to be careful not to get too complacent. Plug Power are absolutely gunning for the green hydrogen market, not just for supplying electrolysers they're aiming to actually produce their own hydrogen too. I've watched companies like Linde before way overestimating the barrier to entry and then before they know what's hit them they end up on the back foot scrabbling for survival. Would be disappointing if they take ITM down with them.

The penny seems to have dropped with a few. My wind turbine and wind farm shares are up over 10% today. Roll over Putin, we don't need your stinking gas.

I'm still keeping the faith despite lumps being taken out of my net worth. Tension with Russia is transitory. Panic caused by rate hikes is transitory. Switching to alternative forms of energy and replacing grey hydrogen is not. I still see green H2 as a key element in that. It just has to be within my lifetime. It's a stressful wait though.
