There look like quite a few bargain prices across the sector now. I imagine they'll go a bit lower yet though. I always find it a bit surprising when the market moves out of tech and back into 'value'. At the end of the day it's always 'tech' that grows the new economies, isn't it. This time surely people should be sticking with green tech not ditching it along with all other tech. Good time for people who want to pick up some bargains for long term hold though.

I'd like to know where operators plan to get their CO2 from. For example, if it were to be captured from blue hydrogen production isn't that then simply converting the original carbon back into another direct equivalent to a fossil fuel which puts that CO2 back into the atmosphere. They're going to have to be very careful with all the wheels-within-wheels as to whether resultant products and emissions are actually green or even carbon neutral.

To be fair it did actually jump 7.5% on the news before rejoining the rest of hydrogen in a downward drift.

superbarnet, we've just been given the revenue figures for the half-year. Unless you think they can't add up or they just don't know the figures for their own business operations then they're still going to be these (from 16th Dec)...
Unaudited Financials for the six months to 31 October:
· Revenue of £4.1m (2020: £0.2m)
· Gross loss of £2.4m (2020: loss of £2.8m)
· Adjusted EBITDA loss of £13.0m (2020: loss of £10.4m)
· Net cash at half-year-end of £166.6m excludes net £242m raised in November
· Cash burn of £12.0m (£14.0m)

The sentiment I'm hearing from the US is still about Fed tightening and higher interest rates so the stocks being dropped are the so-called growth stocks that don't generate any cash. Where I think some mistakes will be made is in lumping together all unprofitable growth stocks rather than sifting through to find the ones likely on the cusp of actual sales away from the early-stage ones with no hope of sales for 10+ years. If they were a bit more selective I think they'd recognise that many of the electrolyser companies are likely on the cusp of some significant sales - timescale 2 years or sooner. Until recognition of those orders actually slaps some investors on the face they'll simply sleep right through this opportunity to steadily build a position in this sector.

Fortunately the rest of the world doesn't have to follow the DfT.

Cleantechnica still plugging away at their anti-hydrogen agenda. It'll only get concerning if their arguments stop being spurious. All the time while their 'facts' remain irrelevant I am confident we're actually on the right path backing green hydrogen. Their inadvertent positive message from the article is a reminder of just how much grey hydrogen there is to convert in the future. Bring it on...

The GreenH2Atlantic project consists in a 100 MW flexible green hydrogen production to be installed in Sines, Portugal, to supply multiple end-uses
• The consortium is composed of 13 European companies from the full value chain and of research partners, to which McPhy will bring the electrolysis technological brick
• The demonstrator will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80 kt CO2 equivalent per year

That can't be right taskmaster. We have it on good authority that nuclear produces 'clean' energy. What waste can there possibly be?!?

There's another advantage they have over us little people. They know that if the company ever needs more money then the big institutions are offered an attractive price for the accelerated book build and they can make their investment at that time... no need for them to bid up today's price for modest portions of available common stock.

Oldtinman, it's possibly that they don't need to take the risk. If the orders never come then the company won't grow. I'd the orders come then perhaps they see 5-fold growth. So why not wait until confirmation of the first large orders and jump in during the confirmed growth phase. Just a thought.

I'll offer one experience (I repeated several times 'till I got the message) which taught me a big lesson...Just because they are big companies there's no law that says they have to come back. You are a shareholder, but it gives you absolutely no say in the company's future. When the offer comes in to buy out a business at a much lower price than you bought in at, the board with fold and you lose. Worse still, if the company is close to bust, a bought out company often trades as if nothing happened but you're no longer a shareholder of the new organisation as your shares are written off. Just be careful. Been there, done that. Try not to be as naive as I was.

...I should clarify, I don't mean with ITM. I thought lots of 15% gains was the way to make it, but at best I was break-even and it involved lots of hair-raising doubling down. So stressful. I find long term trading with an upfront strategy of price-points is much more calming. Is it more profitable? I don't know. Luck still has a huge part to play.

Woody, my experience of short-term trading was exactly the same, coupled with some disastrous losses as well. I'll bet that many participants here could share exactly the same thing.

It'll be interesting to watch how long Credit Suisse remain behind the curve on this one.

It would be more useful if street analysts have a three price target, one year, three year, and five year. It's a brave call suggesting your customers don't invest in ITM just because your one year target is 340. If your five year target would be, say, 1500, why would you risk being out for a year instead of investing and sitting on it. I know which I would do...

Trader87, it was an Analysts-only meeting today, not open to us small-fry. The best we get is a posting of the slides available on the ITM website. The email I received said they are hoping it would be possible that the meeting was recorded and can be posted later, but I doubt it will be.

Yep, too true jj. I'm in the fortunate position that it doesn't really matter much which way it plays out, but I enjoy the anxious excitement just the same. It's like Christmas... just one more sleep to go.

My optimistic forecast... Open down 5%, recover a few percent before 9am, drop down again with total dip reaching -7%, then stunning recovery based on future forecast to end back above 400p. Oh, yeah, then don't look back - next stop 700p.
