Covid testing on brink of collapse in Tier 4 amid surge in demand
Nearly two million residents of Kent were unable to access tests on Sunday, while many Londoners were sent more than 20 miles.
No walk-in or drive-in tests in Kent were shown as available by 3pm on Sunday with residents asked to travel to London testing centres instead.
It comes after fears emerged that England’s testing infrastructure could be on the brink of collapse after not a single test was available in London just hours before the city was plunged into tougher restrictions on Saturday (December 19).

This will get worse as the demand for testing ramps up.

As an investor research is key. Always look at the bigger picture. The container question I raised was an inquisitive question at the time - Haha, has great incite which is very interesting to probe (look at my questions to him before the last RNS).
This has now been overtaken by events from BJ announcement of 19/12/21. Kent is Tier 4. Nothing will now move from this region. Brexit uncertainty further compounds this.
The new infectious strain has the boffins worried. Herd immunity could occur before vaccine rollout. This is a nightmare outcome, having come so far in 2020.
Mass testing becomes more important now.
Travel will be vastly restrictive. No one will want to import a 70% virulent strain without a vaccine. We will be locked down.
Face masks and PPE procured in territory becomes very important now.
Sovereign manufacturing needs to step up to the challenges ahead. We are entering uncharter territory now!
Does the vaccine address the new strain? Does the vaccine prevent infectiousness? Big questions which are more accute abd need answeering rapidly.
The best tests need to be fast tracked now. Government response needs to step up.
We should have been throwing everything into this from the start. We will have to now.
A fast, sensitive and specific test (or better still TWO tests) is now a game changer in the war we must now wage against this criter!
