Evolve, I think you understimate the power of JD. Have you researched his background, his connections, his wife's business and how that (excuse the pun) is evolving?
I appreciate what you are saying, and on paper, yes, it would look that way, but JD came back in to the company for a reason in 2019, he wasn't going to let 'his' company be run in to the ground, he didn't like what he saw, and I'm pretty sure he has a vision, it's just the pandemic arrived early 2020 and threw a massive spanner in the works for him, and the company. Alot of retail business went to the wall as a result, but SuperDry are still trading, and are cost cutting, not pretty I admit, but it's necessary for survival when a pandemic has severely hit trade over a 3 year period, and made most retailers realise that they have to switch now to a higher % of e-commerce.
Life has changed very much in the last 5-10 years and not all for the better.
The elderly daren't go out at all, broad daylight or dark, for fear of being mugged.
No one can go out in Central or Greater London without the fear of being mugged or stabbed.
The police can't control anything, they've lost the ability.
The shops are being looted. You won't hear it on the news, but I regularly hear that stores such as LV are being looted, staff are told not to challenge, and police do nothing. I'm only 15 mins from Sloane Square by car, and I rarely go in to Central London any more, I much prefer to shop online and send the goods back if they don't fit etc.
So yes, Superdry need to pare back, no doubt about it, but I think JD very much has a vision for the turnaround of it through e-commerce, and I'd like to hear his plans. my musings.
