Actually Fubar, the Malicious Communications Act allows the police power to obtain the identity of the person abusing a social media site, and in particular, those targeting and harassing individuals. The police never used to bother, but clearly things have changed of late which is why the thought police are under orders to target facebook, but it doesn't mean to say they won't take action on other social media platforms as well.
