What amazes me most is that someone with your mindset voted to remain. Europeans built our economy up - paid taxes and provided labor that wasn’t available on the domestic market. Immigrants have made a great contribution to this country and the helped pay for the old generation’s healthcare.

Not only that, if you go to any hospital it’s staffed out with foreign labor - why? Because there’s a skill shortage. Without then the NHS would collapse.

Same applies to the building trade. - I know some directors from Taylor Wimpey who tell me the building industry is tearing its hair out because they won’t be able to recruit the skilled labor they so desperately need from the EU. That pattern is replicated across Britain.

What they don’t mention is that UK citizens have given up their right to nationality in 27 countries - their right to free movement - to abode - and to get free medical care and state benefits there.

But that’s all compensated for by the return of duty free - a few bob off a bottle of plonk. And Brexiteers agree; but me that’s like a monkey selling a penthouse apartment in Knightsbridge for a bunch of bananas and believing he got the best part of the deal.

Maybe it wouldn’t effect you if we crashed out with no deal but do you have any idea of the anxiety that prospect is causing to millions of British people whose livelihood hinges on EU trade?

The people have dealt a grievous self-inflicted wound on Britain, from which it will never recover. Those who voted out because they thought they had nothing to lose are in for a nasty surprise. Brexit will be a world of pain and misery for everyone - except the billionaires who financed it.

Futures are shaping up for a bad day tomorrow. Businesses are suffering from Brexit anxiety - I know some business owners and the uncertainty is weighing on them terribly. Their nerves are torn to shreds - with only hours to go the reckless criminals who perpetrated this crime against the nation are no nearer reaching a deal than a year ago.

I marvel over how someone like Michael Gove can be a cabinet minister - a sociopath who obviously has serious alcohol issues - if ever there was an old soak it’s him. It makes me tremble to think of him driving the Brexit bus.

The markets are forward looking alright. Many businesses effected by Brexit have forgotten about Covid altogether. The horror of what’s to come regarding Brexit is the only thing on their minds.

If sterling crashes you will see hyperinflation. Petrol, food commodities, the list is endless. A weak currency would cause social upheaval. Can you imagine prices rising by 10-15 percent over just a few weeks? Ask Zimbabwe or Venezuela what a weak currency does to a country.

Hopefully the really big multinationals like BP Shell BATS Glaxo and many more will ship out of Little England and rebase on friendlier shores.

I wouldn’t even put it that high. Crashing out of the EU with no deal has always been the hardcore Brexiteers’ dream Brexit. There’s no moderation in extremism - it’s an all or nothing ideology- you only have to look at ISIS to see that. Extremists offer no concessions, they follow their warped ideology through to the end - and it never ends well.

IMO they have no intention of reaching a deal - they are merely running the clock down so they can blame the EU for no deal. What’s they’re doing isn’t so much as economic suicide, it’s more like delivering economic genocide on their own people.
I can imagine it now - the Tory tabloids inciting hatred against Germany in the aftermath of no deal and brainwashing the mindless into believing it was all Germany’s fault. Johnson will have his Churchill moment - and in the eyes of the extremists and their scat tabloids it will become another ‘Blitz’

I expect a tidal wave of wage to sweep the nation when the real consequences of Brexit become known. It won’t only be remainders who are incandescent with rage, legions of leavers are going to be angry too. What happened to the oven ready deal those miscreants promised?

One irrefutable fact is that by crashing out of the EU it will destroy manufacturing and industry bases completely.

Nissan have declared their business would be unsustainable if tariffs were to happen. That sentiment is shared by the entire car industry. Airbus and other multinationals have made similar overtures. The lunatic right-wing extremists who hijacked a mainstream party were too busy courting petty entrepreneurs like Wetherspoons and Dyson to care about big industry responsible for tens of thousands of quality high paying jobs that keep a chain of other companies in business through their supply line.

The same applies to the financial sector. Not sure exactly how much tax they paid the nation last year - but they provide more revenue for the country than any other sector. I’d put it at around £65-70 billion per annum. Frankfurt is benefiting from Brexit - if Britain crashes out the trickle will become a flood. Manufacturing and finance has become a sacrificial lamb on the altar of twisted extremist ideology - it seems no price is too high to restore Little England to its 1950s ideal and isolationism. These nationalist experiments have happened before in Nazi Germany and fascist Spain to name two. To go down that path in this day and age is beyond madness. When the fog finally lifts from the Brexit misery it will be judged as the greatest self inflicted wound a nation has ever brought on itself in peacetime. And as John Major said - the perpetrators will never be forgiven.

And don’t forget the real misery won’t begin until January 1st. That’s when the real implications and recriminations will begin. Britain is at the dawn of an existential crisis.

It was demolished and redeveloped, but the pub has reopened on another premises on the dead-end sub-soi at the bottom of Soi 8 m, a couple of minutes walk from Nana BTS station.

Back in 2005 I got a good offer to work in Bangkok for a consultancy firm. I was working in Tokyo at the time but the offer was too good to refuse as it paid quite a bit more and the cost of living was considerably lower in Thailand.
I bought an apartment at the Millennium building in Sukhumvit right away (on mortgage) and another at the top of soi 8 (Lake Green - Sukhumvit) a couple of years later (no mortgage) Soi 8 pub wasn’t local.
I’ve done really well out of it - the millennium apartment (prime location in downtown Bangkok) is now valued at almost one million dollars. I’ve not only made money of the property appreciation, I’ve also made a killing on the Thai baht appreciation.
What i can’t get my head around is why so many expats in Thailand support the military dictatorship. Not only that but the vast majority of expat Brits also voted for Brexit even though the result decimated the £. You must know the £ fell 20 percent overnight in wake of the result and the damage it’s done to expats.

Thailand has always attracted uneducated blue-collar farangs , but is there any need to support extremist right- wing political movements in other countries as well as your own. Short of shooting your self in the head it seems like economic suicide to me. I met many British expats in Bangkok and a lot will have to return to Britain soon because they are struggling to survive out there.

Please don’t take this as a personal attack, your political orientation may be totally different from the majority of British expats in Thailand. My views are only a generalization.

I’d forgotten all about that share until you rattled my cage and reminded me.

I see nothing became of all the excitement over an uncrossing trade that sent the Centrica board into hysteria a few days ago. A takeover bid was imminent and you and other novices were soiling your pants with expectation. Have to learnt what a UT trade is yet?

Anyway - I believe Centrica is a company in terminal decline. And I’ll be expressing my views on the Centrica board once again. And as you know there’s inot a worse person to have posting negative on a share than me.
