True - but Bitcoin’s spectacular rise is being driven by hedge funds who are risking billions of other people’s money by playing fast and loose with the biggest speculative bubble in human history.

Not knocking it - there are fortunes to be made from bubbles if you can get your timing right.

But when it finally crashes there will be casualties. Funds trading on leverage will be completely wiped out. Their creditors will suffer from the fallout.

And as usual retail investors will get wiped.

The bubble is gathering momentum- and as it does more and more are drawn in - as is the way with any bubble. Fear in the guise of greed being the emotional driver

Greed = the fear of missing out.

The biggest Ponzi scheme in history - it surpassed a trillion dollars last week.

Buffet refers to bitcoin as Rat Poison Squared.
I refer to it as a socially structured reality with ZERO intrinsic value.

I think you’ll find that well over 80 percent of uk share trades are executed by algorithms in the UK

In the US it’s estimated to be about 70 percent
And in Forex 92 percent.

It’s obvious that this degree of automated trades can influence/determine shareprice movement.
I mean everyone already knows machines are imposed to CONTROL every aspect of our existence.

Behind the facade of everyday life machines determine how much we can borrow, risk, how long we’ll live and a hundred other factors. Through algorithms.

I’m not a conspiracy theory crank or anything like that but I do know the overuse of artificial intelligence becomes a self fulfilling prophecy and most certainly determine outcomes.

That’s the point I was trying to make in earlier posts. And anyone who knows the dynamics of share trading will tell you hedge funds collude/conspire/ to ensure the best possible outcome for themselves.

Of course collusion to fix/influence shareprice movement is illegal. And it’s also difficult to prove. If the toothless FCA were to investigate their trades they would find a pattern - but even then they could only prove it if the perpetrators were to admit it.

They know this happens of course but turn a blind eye to preserve the integrity of the market. The scandal would cause more issues than it would solve.

Shorting is essential for liquidity. It’s not the evil it’s made out to be. My argument is manipulation through collusion which leads to determination of shareprices.

These rogue hedge funds aren’t doing anything illegal because nothing can be proven. But it’s widely known in the city that these murky fund managers act together like a cartel. Collectively they have billions to play with so they can move the biggest shares. Sometimes they pump and dump and drive worthless companies up because they know a soaring shareprice captures everyone’s attention.

What they’re doing with Glaxo right now is shorting by stealth. And that goes under the radar. Experienced traders know heavily shorted shares are a red herring and you’re likely to get burnt. Much better to short a company no one suspects to be a short target.

Shareholders need to raise the issue of shareprice manipulation. They should write a letter to customer relations expressing their concerns.

What’s happening currently is

Collusion among multiple hedge funds to drive the SP down.
Wash trading.
Fake sell orders.
Concerted Algorithm sell orders to counter any rise.

And a dozen other devious practices they use to drive the SP down.

How did hedge funds make money out of BT by driving the market capital value down from nearly £50million to £10miliion?

By going short of course. It’s a war of attrition for them - they conspire to drive a company into the ground day in and day out.

You’ve probably noticed there’re always one or two ftse100 shares in the doghouse. When they’ve hammered a company down to a fraction of its value, like they did with BT they look for other victims.

Glaxo is a great company and it has no real issues - the last two trading updates ha e exceeded market expectations so there’s a limit to the damage these hedge funds can do.

I know people in the city and they’ve told me Glaxo has been singled out by these bandits - there were phone calls circulating weeks ago saying “the clouds are fathering over Glaxo over the next few months”

That’s code for ‘we’re going to shaft Glaxo over”
It’s not just one or two hedge funds it’s dozens and they’re all working hand in glove together to destroy Glaxo’s value. They wait until it rises like it did this morning then work in unison to drive it back down.

And as we know with BT, when a share gets trashed everyone is frightened to go near it - and that’s the exact psychology these funds work on.

Like hyenas they work in packs, and as with hyenas other animals get scared off when they’re on a feeding frenzy.

I posted last week that Glaxo gets marked down almost every single day after market close. Even yesterday when the market soared the market makers tore about 12p off the closing price - which is most unusual for such an up day.
Same again today about 6p lower than after the market closed.

Which goes to prove the scummy hedge funds and boiler room operations can even trash Glaxo after the market closes.

The BOD must be aware of this criminal practice - I can’t understand why they don’t lobby the government to bring in regulation to outlaw these financial entities. Why should they be allowed to wipe their feet on UK shareholders when they’re banned from operating in their own countries.

The manipulation is done through algo trading. These funds are using their trading machines as ‘engines of destruction’ to trash anything they target.

It was touch and go for a while with the Brexit deal but I predicted this on November 13 post in the expectation of a deal.

That’s because every time it rises above £14 unregulated hedge funds collude to drive the SP down.
That’s why Glaxo can never keep a gain and why the SP is only marginally higher than it was when the ftse fell to 4900 in March.
I’ve worked in the city and this is how it works...

Hedge funds agree on a stock to short
They program their algo-machines to open hundreds of small sell orders when it rises
Small shorts go under the radar - so they can make fortunes ganging up on a company.

They did this to BT for years and destroyed their SP, now they’ve marked Glaxo down for the same abuse.

I’ve got nothing against shorting- I sometimes do it myself. But what these hedge funds do isn’t shorting it’s fraud. When dozens of hedge funds collude together to drive a shareprice down (or up) that is criminal. If you run a casino like that you’d go to jail and have your assets confiscated.

EU and US markets are regulated against this practice and keep an eye out for it with the threat of huge fines. In the UK shareholders have no such protection against hyena hedge funds.

Is absolutely right of course. It’s a common theme on these boards when any company’s shareprice drops substantially posters believe it’ll be taken over because of SP weakness.

But it doesn’t happen like that in reality. SP weakness is only temporary and as long as there’re no critical issues SP weakness should be seen as a buying opportunity.

The jobs under threat from Brexit aren’t the penny-farthing ones in the retail/service/hospitality industries

They’re the high paying ones in manufacturing and finance. Brexit has served as an exodus for these valuable industries. It speaks volumes that Brexit charlatans were championing the likes of Dyson and Tim Martin as pro Brexit entrepreneurs while ignoring Airbus Nissan and the entire financial industry that is responsible for paying the highest tax revenue to the treasury.
