The medusa website also looks like its been done by a C grade GCSE computer studies pupil and not the multi millionaire owners of Boohoo so you can be excused Davieb1.
Avacta remains focused on the much larger opportunity of the saliva-based coronavirus antigen rapid test that we are developing with Cytiva and which is now in the process of technology transfer to our manufacturing partners. The excellent analytical performance of the ELISA test is very encouraging with regards to the anticipated clinical performance of the rapid test and I look forward to starting the clinical validation with the first pilot batch of rapid tests as soon as possible."
Authorities around the world are now looking to carry-out frequent mass testing to identify the most infectious people promptly in order to reduce infection rates and combat the coronavirus pandemic. That requires a highly specific test to minimize false positives which would otherwise overwhelm healthcare systems. The Affimer reagents that we have generated are very specific to SARS-CoV-2 antigen and we are confident of meeting and exceeding the clinical performance requirements for identifying the most infectious people.
But we have Affimers as intellectual property. Anyone wanting to produce the tests would have to have access to affimers so it's not like paracetamol where anyone can make it for 12p
Fwiw I agree we weren't part of the trial but we are now top of the pile in the lateral flow device which everyone's talking about. Check out the competition @davidpqz how many manufacturers can you find to fill worldwide demand??
It is clear without any doubt that Avacta are developing the test that the world needs and wants. There are room for more manufacturers with the world being the target market. But how many are in development from what ive seen i count 4 including Avacta
