Interestingly, the Upper Kobuk Mineral Projects in Alaska, which is a joint venture owned by Trilogy Metals and Australian miner South32 (ASX) is in a "mineral-rich area with copper, zinc and lead deposits".

O'Callaghan's prospect is made up of Tungsten, with significant copper, zinc & lead too.

"The Trump administration is ramping up efforts to secure U.S. supply chains for critical minerals and semiconductors by converting federal grants to companies into equity stakes, aimed at reducing reliance on China.

I just wondered if we had been any part of this, especially with our Tungsten at O'Callaghans, and Shaun Day's comment earlier this year:

"We have Australia's largest, and highest grade, Tungsten deposit"

"Clearly the world wants to diversify away from China exposure, so i think the option value of that Tungsten deposit is now really significant...I think there's some great opportunity with O'Callaghans...I've reached out to the US Government about what they'd like to do".

Just to add, during the closedown at Telfer last year, Newmont spent tens of millions on repair & maintenance, the result of which was Shaun Day stating that the mine was in the best shape it had been for over 10 years.

The ASX is a recognised exchange by HMRC and is therefore eligible for ISA holdings.

I agree Spades, and have believed the same ever since the talk about ASX listing, and, I also think that's been the company plan too.

WSBN? I've never known a company, for years now, better at churning out RNS's, with pretty pictures, and nothing much more than fluff., along with numerous 'pump & dumps'. I'll maybe take notice if they actually have some positive assays, but, at this time, there is nothing of substance reported, and it's increasingly looking like there won't be either. That said, it's good for the traders, if they time it right.

Our take: Positive. The company has delivered a very strong quarter on both production and cash generation. In our view, this will go some way to closing the valuation gap that re-emerged following the weaker-than-expected FY26 guide (stock trades at a P/NAV of ~0.6x versus Australian peers at ~0.9x) and will likely reward investors that bought on weakness (which we believed was significantly overdone). The strong cash build continues to de-risk the funding of Havieron, and spot prices have already moved +7% ahead of our DecQ assumptions.

Maintain BUY rating and 635p/A$13.20 target price.

"A global shortage of copper is looming, and not enough new supply is being brought into the market to support demand, according to analysts.

Copper is essential to a wide range of industries — from electrical wiring and batteries, in wind turbines, circuits, construction and medical applications — with the metal highly favoured for its conductivity and thermal attributes.

But this year, a series of major supply disruptions have led many analysts to warn the industry is producing less copper than it is consuming, and prices have increased accordingly.

Greatland Resources was the pick of the local gold producers who lifted the lid on their September quarter numbers amid the precious metal reaching another price milestone.

Greatland finished Tuesday up 9.6 per cent after it reported gold output of 81,000 ounces from its Telfer mine in the East Pilbara. The company boosted its cash balance by $175 million over the quarter to hold $750m by September 30.

All-in sustaining costs were still to be finalised, Greatland said, but investors should expect the final figure to be at the lower end of its $2,400/oz to $2,800/oz forecast range.

The Forrest family’s private companies Wyloo and Tattarang control 18.2 per cent of Greatland’s stock.

Goldfields mid-tier miner Regis Resources stated its September quarter was “in-line with expectations” with $158m of cash and bullion added to its coffers from 90,400oz of gold produced. Shares in Regis ended the day 2.7 per cent higher.

Industry straggler Bellevue Gold produced 30,000 ounces with cash and bullion edging up $5m. Its stock crept up 0.4 per cent.

The quarterly previews came as gold reached $6000 in Australian dollar terms for the first time in history on Tuesday. The ongoing US government shutdown has fuelled the latest leg of strong demand for the safe-haven commodity.

Gold’s value has climbed more than 50 per cent over the past year.

Following the release, Citi analysts lifted their forecasts for net cash and FY26 earnings. This was also driven by an increase in the expectation of the gold price to USD4,000 per ounce for the fourth quarter of 2026.

What they said: “Today’s update is positive in that [production and costs] are tracking ahead of guidance and we still see delivery of FY26 guidance and a reiteration of the FY27 outlook as key to outperformance,” the Citi research note said.
