BMR's 15% partner in Star Zinc have issued an RNS this morning. It's worth reading, if only because I don't think I've ever read an odder one. In short, there now must be serious doubt as to whether BMR ever emerge from suspension. It looks more and more like MinorMiner's theory that JLP will buy out BMR very cheaply is correct. That would leave JLP with 100% of Kabwe and as a 15% partner with GLR to develop Star Zinc. In the end, a good result for both companies,if a terrible one for BMR shareholders.

BMR have issued an RNS this morning - and it is one of the strangest I have ever seen. In short, they are going to sell a proportion of their JLP shares to cover an unexpected $800K bill. In the long run this may end up being good news for JLP - I'm expecting JLP to end up with a much bigger share of Kabwe than currently, perhaps 100%. And I'm sure the lack of this payment is what was blocking progress in Zambia. But, that said, a lot of loose JLP shares are going to hit the market short-term and this is going to depress the price. Very sorry for BMR shareholders. I don't think the company will emerge from suspension now.

For me, this is the moment when the road runner has hurtled over the edge of the cliff, but his legs are still frantically peddling the air, and he's not yet aware of the yawning drop beneath him. Just give it a little time...

Hi All! Any opinions on what the change in the Spanish government might mean for BKY? I believe the company was always close to the Partido Popolare, who have now been voted out. And that the Stop Uranio movement shared many members with far left Podemos, who are now in. Could this affect the mine's licensing?

Hi Bolgas! Sorry to see you go, but I've got to say I just don't see things the way you do. Frank's right; this matter is outside the company's hands. On another note entirely, the maximum number of shares the company is seeking authorisation to buy back is no less than 20% of the entire company!

I took a small punt on BOD because the tiny mcap means that if there is almost any Marange deal then the SP will multibag. For my money the risk-reward profile is worthwhile: if there is no deal then BOD's SP should remain more or less unchanged; if there is a deal then there is good money to be made. (Nonetheless, my main holding is still here, of course).

FWIW, I've done a lot of business in Eastern Europe, including Romania. I don't want to go into too complicated an explanation on a public bulletin board, but, after yesterday's RNS, I'm convinced that Vast will get the BP licence signed off in June, or just possibly July. All the omens are good. I'm also confident that substantial value will be extracted by Vast from the Marange diamonds situation, and soon (i.e. before the coming elections there). This will probably in the form of an upfront payment (?$10m?) plus a small royalty share (1-3%?) of future Marange production. This will be in return for waiving the rights to legal action against the coming new owner of the Marange fields (most likely Alrosa), plus in return for access to the existing exploration database. BOD will also benefit nicely from the deal.

I just thought I'd throw a question out to the board. I think it's clear enough that no value for Dugbe is currently included in the share price - God knows, Yanfolila is severely undervalued as things are. But how much do posters think Hummingbird would get for Dugbe if they just sold the project lock, stock and barrel to another gold miner? All answers gratefully received!

Vast's SP doubling on the Baita Plai licence confirmation is a realistic expectation. Current mcap here only 27m quid. BP has an asset value of $50-$60m, and a much higher NPV. All in all, Vast SP severely depressed at the moment, I think due to mass departure of traders.

It is expected that the Company will publish a prospectus in connection with the Admissions on or around 30 May 2018 and that, subject to the receipt of the necessary approvals from the FCA, the Shares will be admitted to the Official List and commence trading on the Main Market and Spanish Stock Exchanges on or around the 6 or 7 June 2018.

I agree that selling VAST shares now (short of absolutely needing the money to eat) is a strange decision. As regards Romania, I'd expect the news flow to look like: Baita Plai licence (very likely sometime in June), Q2 results with good figures from Manaila after the winter stripping, draw down of Tranche 2 of funding from Mercuria; go ahead on reopening Baita Plai and constructing new processing plant at Manaila. That's a lot of good news to come in a short time. As regards Zimbabwe, I believe that there will be at least one further acquisition of a gold mine / polymetallic mine n the next few weeks. Hopefully, it will be as good a deal as the Eureka deal (though that one will be hard to equal). I also believe that (at a minimum) Vast will receive a substantial payment ($10m+?) from whoever receives the new rights to the Marange diamond fields (Alrosa?) in return for settling the legal case and sharing the previous exploration database. In addition, we can also expect news of when and how Eureka will be put back into production. Finally, Pickstone Peerless will continue to produce as well as always. As always, all IMO and DYOR.

So, after yesterday's massive trading volume, which way does the share price move? I'm not sure about the short term, but HUM looks like an almost irresistible medium/long term investment proposition to me. The same here. If the market overreacts, then I'll be buying as well. Fundamentals here are ridiculously attractive.

If I were a trader (though I'm not), I would take this RNS as a huge signal to jump in and buy this morning. What odds we see Carla again today? p.s. RNS translate - "Payable" in this context means "economic" or "profitable to mine".

I don't want to trivialise what has happened, because people have died. But, really, there's a lot of over-reaction on this board, and even a little deliberate scaremongering, presumably in search of a low entry price. In the long run, even in the medium run, yesterday's events don't change the (very strong) investment case for Hummingbird. Remember, gold mining is (by far) the largest source of income for the government of Mali. Of course the Government will act forcefully to assert its authority and to protect its licensing system.

Almost certain this happened earlier today - hence the hurried and clumsy wording of the RNS. It looks to me like the Malian National Guard tried to move off a group of non-local artisan miners from Komana West, and the miners protested, and things escalated. Very unfortunate.

We should get more drill results from Rainbow in the first half of June. Firstly, the results should include more detail on the find at Kiyenzi, including grades and intervals on the breccia material. However, we won't get tonnages yet, which is a pity, as by my very rough estimate the Kiyenzi find may represent an increase of several years in the life of the mine. Secondly, we should get the results of the drilling of the supposed carbonatite pipes. The rare earth grades in the pipes probably won't be anything like the narrow vein material, but the pipes (if confirmed) are massive (the largest has a diameter of 2700m). Hopefully, the company will also give an indication of how it intends to extract the rare earths from the pipes. As regards actual ongoing production, I don't think we'll get an update until the quarterly report in July. But I assume that Rainbow are still fighting through all the teething operational problems and gradually ramping up production.
