Yes, I noticed that Vast moved yesterday. On a "nothing" RNS that was full of hype and BS, but no actual business achievements (e.g. deals actually signed, money raised, licenses granted etc.)
I also note that Vast's accounts MUST be published by Monday or suspension from AIM awaits, and that Vast must be very short of cash. In other words, if I were a holder of Vast I'd be selling NOW on the spike. The risk of losing everything over there must be very, very real.
I've got no idea if BOD's JV with Vast is still intact. It's been a long time since it's been mentioned by either side, so I wonder.

Short Tracker now showing that Quant have dropped below the 0.5% reporting threshold.
Disclosed shorts now only 1.19%.
(Of course there will still be a lot of shorts less than 0.5%).

That's right - accounts by 30th September or suspension from AIM.
I wonder how they are going to account for all the money that they have raised and then not spent how they said they would. E.g.: the mysterious million, or the 500K on the trucks for Manaila. Or will they just not file accounts in time?
We could well be in the end game here.

The only explanation I have for the recent share price action is that the company knew there was a substantial willing seller, and they jumped in with the buyback to take advantage of the liquidity.
I think the seller is still around, and I'm waiting for some very big sells to print at about 39p to balance the book.
After the seller has cleared, I'm guessing that SLP will move up to at least the recent highs. The PGM basket price is improving all the time, and the business is performing very well.

Well, I can't be definitive, but I reckon the broker snagged more than a million shares on just the first day of the buyback, most of them at a decent discount to 41.68p.
The only way I can make sense of the board is that either there is a massive delayed sale still to appear, or that there has been heavy selling in South Africa, and the shares are flowing here.
All a bit of a puzzle, to be honest.

I like this deal. Yes, it's a venture capital university spin-out play, and so it carries risk.
But Mkango are getting a big share of the project for not much up front money - the government grant will make an enormous difference. And the team behind this project are clearly world experts.
I don't suppose this will move the share price much in the short term, but I view today's announcement as a positive.

No, today's presentation isn't a profit warning - fact.
What it does do is guide to a better AISC than at least I expected (good), and to lower production (still within annual guidance, but not so good).
There is good news to come here - we should get the go ahead for the solar project shortly (good, permanently lower AISC), and perhaps a formal announcement of the go ahead of a mine in West Africa (very good).
In my book, given economic fundamentals, anybody shorting ANY gold stock right now is either very brave or a little bit dumb. And Centamin is still a better gold miner than most.

Come off it, Castaway. Vast isn't even a car crash of a share, it's a train wreck.
I literally can't imagine a company with worse management. I'm expecting the story to end in a rather nasty AIM scandal.

And also a currency war, as each country / bloc drops its interest rate in search of a competitive advantage. (Trump has just tweeted demanding that the Fed do just this).
It's all pretty much bad news for everybody, but it's good news for gold and silver, and the companies that mine them.
God help the shorters here; this is going to really REALLY hurt!

It's still early days, but I'm getting increasingly confident that James Campbell is onto something big here.

It looks like we are headed towards a platinum miners' strike in South Africa. I can't work out of this is bad news or good news for Jubilee. I.e. Is it a threat to production at Hernic and/or Windsor/Eland; or will it cause the price of platinum to spike upwards and result in a a bonanza for Jubilee?

No, the recent increase in the price of silver (and indeed that of gold) makes a huge difference to Fresnillo. If sustained, it will make a huge difference in the company's free cash flow generation.
Yes, Fresnillo's last results weren't good, and they have things to put right on an operational level, but you can't pretend that the price of silver is irrelevant to the company's fortunes. It's key.
As far as I can tell, the shorters now are really hoping on a dramatic fall in the price of silver. It's not a position I would want to be in, especially if I were leveraged. It seems to me the first to buy back in will be the one to lose the least money; depending on when they sold short, they might even lock in a small gain. Think about it!
