My bet is now that Goldman are lending the shares to shorters, if you scroll down the RNS that appears to be the case, unless I am misinterpreting the meaning.

Brent appears to be continuing its upward march at the moment, so could see some upward momentum, if Brent continues up I think a few shorters poopers will be going sixpence-half a crown.

RD12, shorting is one way the rich get richer. I'm old enough to remember Norman Lament (yes that's my little joke, not a Malapropism) taking us into the ERM (European Exchange Rate Mechanism). Within days, George Soros had made billions on shorting the pound and forced Lament to take us out again as the pound was down the tubes,

Weak economy means less demand for consumer goods, means less demand for diesel delivery trucks, freight trains, freight aeroplanes etc. Seems to me like an impact.

Glad you brought that up flush, there are several sources of oil price, some differ from others, maybe futures v spot price. When I queried this the other night I was told I was using the wrong source and that I was an idiot. That, I'm afraid, is what you get on here. All the best.

Arsilanb, take note, it's hard to make money on shares. You are fighting against algobots (alorithmic robots) which make 60% or more of all the trades, these things buy and sell on margins of 0.5p or less and do it thousands of times per second. You also asre against the big players, hedge funds, investment trusts etc. who have the financial clout to buy or sell large volumes of shares, and can also short sell large volumes. They can (illegally) organise between them short selling attacks on shares. The FCA who are supposed to regulate it do nothing, because, I was told, they are ex-city boys who still drnk in the pub at lunchtime with the big players. I also thought this would be easy, and in 8 years I have turned 60 grand into 40 grand, learning as I go. I am still learning. Good luck with your trading/investing, you will need it. Be careful who you listen to on here, most have an agenda to suit their own position.

Futuretruth, great post. TheMasatersofthe Universe (Goldman Sachs et al) and their algobots decide which way the markets will go, they have the financial clout to manipulate them. Pis are just cannon fodder to be drained of their money, in fact the city boys refer to the Pi s as "the muppets". If you can make money in this rigged system you are doing very well.
