RE: Well is27 Mar 2020 06:58
Hi Ian, thanks for your regard and I would like to say a thank you to everyone who took time to support NHS workers last night. It was touching to hear the noise people were making. I'm a psychiatric nurse Ian, so not one of the life saving specialists in A&E, ICU or HDi but I do work on a ward which has vulnerable patients and also staff. We don't get a lot of thanks in my line of work as we, unfortunately due to horrible illnesses and other factors, have to restrict the freedom of some patients in order to keep them and others safe. This Covid-19 outbreak is posing us a few challenges but we'll work together with the patients to get through. PPE, we have what we need at the moment, but again our need isn't the same as our general colleagues. As for me I'm fine although like a good number of people around I'd feel better if I knew that I'd actually had the virus then I could have the certainty that I was far less likely to pass it on and could be used efficiently. I'm in the ridiculous situation of having spent 7days in self isolation and off work and if I develop a new cough or temp I would have to go off work again. Looking forward to the antibody test when it arrives.
