Hi my friend, just a comment on your earlier post today about an asset sale for Mt and the effect on the share price. I would suggest that if we had an offer for Mt only that had been accepted (my understanding is that it needs no shareholder vote because it's an asset, not the company) then that would most likely attract a special dividend. Whether the amount of the special dividend matched the whole sale price of the asset would depend on whether the Company wanted to keep something back for, say, development of other assets. I would suggest that once the figure of the special dividend was known the share price would rise to near that price and drop once it had been paid. I'm sure I've read something on this topic before and that's the gist. Therefore I wouldn't imagine people selling out if a nice whopping special dividend was coming their way. I may be wrong and I'm sure I'll corrected by my betters if I am. All IMHO. Oh and one more thing, I'm not a financial advisor but I averaged up on Thursday, because profit is profit is profit. It goes against the grain but if it's free money. Again, there's no need to listen to me. I'm only responsible for myself. All the best Sibloggs. Tiddlor.
