he1 needs a chair with unquestioned capital markets credibility, governance strength, and experience guiding major resource companies through strategic inflection points.

a profile such as stuart chambers, chairman of anglo american, exemplifies what is required: ftse-100 stature, deep institutional trust, and a track record of leading resource businesses through volatility and change. this calibre of chair would immediately reset market confidence and governance standards.

ceo – african project execution specialist

the ceo must have a proven record of delivering complex african resource projects on time and on budget, managing governments, logistics, and operational scale.

someone like ian ****erill — with decades of african mining leadership across gold fields, anglocoal, and endeavour mining — represents the ideal execution profile: converting resources into production, not just talking about it.

an alternative archetype would be carl k. arnet of bw energy, with strong african oil and gas execution experience and a clear focus on transitioning assets into producing status.

Why Leadership selection now matters!

The real test for HE1 is leadership selection: appointing proven, top-tier executives who can step into a high-stakes situation and execute a multi-billion-dollar outcome. HE1 must transition a unique African helium resource from 2C to 2P, secure complex project finance, and then build infrastructure. That requires execution specialists — not exploration-era leadership or promotional management.

HE1 has reached a point where good intentions and effort are no longer enough. The current Board has taken the company as far as it can, but the skill set required from today is fundamentally different. This is no longer an exploration or concept story — it is about execution, financing, and delivery. Continuing with leadership that lacks deep experience in African project delivery, reserve conversion, and large-scale project finance risks wasting a genuinely strategic asset. HE1 deserves leadership that inspires confidence, commands institutional respect, and can take this asset forward without further dilution or delay.

The team is demonstrably effective at geology, drilling, and project engineering/execution, but has struggled significantly with investor relations, capital allocation, and share price performance. They are functionally effective, but commercially and communicatively weak.

The mood is likely a result of the vast financial disconnect—the Board has delivered unprecedented operational success (ML award, 5.5% He flow, US production imminent), but the shareholders have seen unprecedented capital loss (massive dilution).

This environment of extreme volatility, structural shortage, and political tariff risk directly reinforces the argument that the 28p bid for Cascabel is absurdly low:

• Value Erosion: If copper hits $12,000/tonne, the Net Present Value (NPV) of a Tier 1 asset like Cascabel skyrockets, making the 28p offer (based on far more conservative prices) a staggering discount.

• Strategic Scarcity: The U.S. is structurally copper-short and is actively demonstrating a desire to secure domestic and politically aligned supply chains. The fact that a US-aligned company like Freeport-McMoRan could lose one of the world's last major undeveloped copper assets (Cascabel, in the Americas) to a Chinese state-backed entity underscores the urgency for a White Knight.
