Share your view about exploration. What's the point of expending tens or hundreds of millions especially offshore when politicians work to destroy the industry. Find a new field and it will take years to fully assess , plan etc. and then the cost of bringing to production, meanwhile govs. will be pressing on with their Net Zero ambition, and that's without the risk of some genius inventing an energy amplifier!!
It's really only five weeks, that is a sharp drop in such a short period. Let's hope for some improvement over the remainder of the year, nonetheless the revised forecast isn't a disaster if we can avoid further downgrade. Bit of a blow for those with a higher average like myself. Ah well, I didn't bet the farm on it, the benefit of diversification !.
IG & Plus 500 down mildly on the cmc news. One would expect there to be a similar trade decline with these two. Let's hope it's nothing specific to cmc and even at lower levels of profit there should be a useful divi. I'd rather have my capital back though.
Mando, hope your Dad ignored your advice and agree it might be worth a punt at these prices but as I tend to do a lot of my trading on s/b these days and manage the account at a rather high percentage of availability I'm only watching at the moment, another 50p off and i'd be tempted. Not the first time I've been underwater shortly after taking what looked like a reasonable bet but most times they recover to make a profit or near enough breakeven. As they say, nothing ventured nothing gained. Hope anyone buying in here sees a quick return to 400+ , it'll mean me recovering my loss too.
Let's look on the brighter side, after long months staring at screens perhaps traders have taken to the great outdoors to enjoy what's left of summer while they can, you just know the Covid Stasi is itching to go for further lockdown. Anyone for a game of statistics and damned lies Professor F. ?
We haven't had the market crash yet!. Bit of a shock here only got in couple of days ago and whoosh down 2200 or so . Don't think we'll be seeing 400+ for a while. Is it as bad as having a bucket of cold vomit thrown over you first thing?. No it's worse.
I wandered lonely as a cloud on the dmgt message board.
Dmgt stake worth about $1.35b, should be worth a few more pence on our share price.
Cazoo trading in New York up about 8%
It won't hinder but it's all about the award here now.
Instos !
Whatever we as individual investors/traders think in respect of pushing for costs & interest in addition to the Principal it will be the IIs that will decide , they've got the votes. In my opinion we are in a very strong position to recover costs and interest but we shall see if the Instow have the testicular wherewithal for the fight.
Personally not optimistic for O&G explorers in the future because of politicians pushing Climate Change and Net Zero , this surely puts a dampener on this sector.
Agree 100%
Bbboy. At the moment all the briefing is coming from the GoI and they will put their spin on it. If the GoI wants to protect itself from future claims from discontented shareholders they would I think need the assurance of an acceptance vote by Cairn shareholders so that's where it will be decided. The big IIs will carry the day there . We can have our say on here and at a vote but the big boys will have the deciding vote.
It's only a win if we get interest & costs in some form. Payment of the Principal is only return of stolen assets. Governments pass laws enabling theft but it's still morally theft.
550m is a lot to leave on the table. If the GoI's appeal fails Cairn will be able enforce its claim on the whole 1.75b. Trust the Board do not allow themselves to be bamboozled by the GoI's subterfuge.
Reference the losses airlines have racked up during the enforced idleness of the covid shutdowns, and the capital raises. Restricted flights outside of India would soon prove rather costly.
In the present position in the aircraft market seizing aircraft may not of itself be such a great prize, the financial damage of restricted operations would be a much greater blow, the airline would hardly be able to operate outside India and the IG is trying to privatise the Co.
Why is IG still contesting case in courts, after all the revised law effectively means they've yielded on the principal amount but are still refusing interest and costs. Yes you've got it in one, they realise if they lose Cairn has got them over a barrel for the interest and costs as well as the principal.
