- Over 300 kilometres of West Midland’s roads are set to trial connected and autonomous vehicles, making UK roads safer and allowing for more predictable goods delivery and journey times.

So far everyone has focused on the short term (6 months) temporary measures. But there is also the permanent restructuring. Some have lost their jobs. Part will be due to the increased homeworking that will occur in the future reducing the need for the central team, some will be due to flattening and rearranging management structures and teams as the R&D focus changes. For the individuals it is sad, but healthy for the company in the longer term to review in downturns:

Nothing posted first thing, I check back and the boards busy. No news, no RMS, not even some juicy Friday patents (hope you are enjoying a lie-in JC). Instead we are watching 7even trying to annoy everyone into selling, so he can buy in at 2.1p.

Like a stuck clock he may be correct occasionally, but unless you know when it is right it is useless. So we should all take his advice and sell up. Let the price crash and the company fail. Without DMS lives will no longer be saved. With us all selling out close to the bottom we will all lose.

Or we could ignore him at our peril, say he is correct and there is a raise and dilution then we have the chance to buy more cheep shares. Then the price rises when the income starts and we are all back in serious profit, if we are lucky we increase our holdings on the way down. Even if we do nothing the share price goes up, as the value in the company is still there and *if* they are short on cash they can finance without needing to dilute as the big cash flow is now so close.

I did think the steering wheel was a strange mention, especially since it is supposed to be L3 so could be hands off and eyes of driving (in its ODD) but would use DMS for transition and during manual driving.
I think the main reason for the wheel mention was they recognised it as a common part in the photo and the touch sensor could be missing

In the video no one was wearing one, not the developers, sales or managers why don't they "eat their own dog food?" after all they might make mistakes while tired.

Sorry Beef, I couldn't find examples of eye or gaze tracking. There were lots of mentions of monitoring, but this context is one crew member observing the other do the things that they saying. Did he put the gear up, or just say it.

"My waters just broke" , "Daddy, I need to pee" and "the match starts in 5 minutes" aren't mentioned in the patent

As for the NED patent, the key thing here is it is a "near" eye device, so the camera would be only cm from the eye which could literally fill the image. So the accuracy in measuring the shape of the iris eclipse is going to have a relatively low error as it will measure hundreds of pixels across the iris. If we were using glints that would become even more accurate as the shape of the eyeball bulge accentuates the movement of the glint relative to the movement of the eye. The other thing to consider is the requirement for ambient light glints need an led, but very low power as it is so close to the eye (square power law) and we only need to illuminate a tight angle. However, the Ned will need to illuminate its screen all of the time to illuminate the eye. If it has nothing to show, then it relies on the external light in the environment, but since the user is wearing the NED that will block most light, if the user is trying to look at a dark object close up, additional light will be required or the accuracy of the image of the eclipse will fall.

The main reason for this patent is to work out not what the user is looking at, but how far away they are looking so that the image generated on the screen for each eye will converge at the same place as the user is looking

We have seen "talk" of cars that will monitor your health etc. Many were using Time of Flight (TOF) to measure the minute movements of your body to measure pulse and respiration this proposes to do it with video alone. It looks at slight differences between frames of a video to pick up the slight colour and brightness changes caused by the pulse of blood. It does this by picking it the areas of skin in the image that show the most changes. In the same way it can pick up the movement of breathing.

Of course if you read this patent it needs consistent lighting and a relatively stable subject. So while this may work in a lab, in front of a PC, it is not going to be appearing in a car soon at least not to provide continuous measurements. Perhaps you may get a reading when stationary where there is little variation in the external lighting, but certainly not when moving with variable lighting.

I did see one example of this in action where the video of an empty crisp packet was used to reconstruct the sound in the room but that needed a high speed camera and good lighting!

I did look and there isn't a separate interface file with the data this time. I haven't been monitoring, but the incidents and km travelled may be changing

We are the elephant in that room, hinted at several times. Very bullish with their BMW models announced and their self proclaimed crowning. But SEE will be in BMW next year and as the report says, there are more decisions to be made soon for a large chunk of the market.

I will leave those better qualified to judge on the financials.

I'm going to stay with the Ford F series theory. The Dodge sales were great for 2019, but that is an all time high. 2014 was the first year over 400k and they only hit 500k in 2017 and 2018. Whereas Ford have always had that volume, and I guess that Veoneer know to under promise and over deliver. It may also allow for some variants or markets that won't get DMS.

Plus, I guess there may have been some hints along the way to confirm this long held hypothesis.
