Probably partially an ers system. But mainly as hydrogen can only be used as a hybrid system and excess electricity from the hydrogen generation is stored is massive batteries to power the train later on.
Lithium and battery storage will always be needed, at least for the next 100 years as power on demand just doesn’t happen always away from fossil fuels.
No much had been said about lithium for military uses as its highly unknown. But warfare is all about drones, stealth, robots, and even the new laser systems all will require energy on demand and on remote areas such as very large lithium batteries and lots of them.
