In response to your post of friday night,I would be interested to hear of developments as they unfold and will be thinking of your friend on wednesday. I appreciate that only the remaining shares are of any interest at the present time.

I fully understand your reasons for selling the shares and consider your actions very praiseworthy. I would have done the same myself. I have a relative who works in the healthcare industry and a small part of their process is the detection of brain tumours so I know the urgency involved. I send your friend my best wishes and trust the medication will lead to a successful conclusion.

I am very surprised and somewhat disappointed at what you have done considering your recent positive comments. It would have been less of a surprise if i had sold some due to my slightly gloomier comments recently.

We again hold the same views. I am still a little gloomy on this one but I continue with my weak buy and 1675 top of the range as at end of june

The share price has moved in line with my prediction before the results. This week will continue to fall not least because of Greece and the xd factor.I am however becoming a little more gloomy on this share and although I retain my weak buy i think it may not be too long before I reduce my view to a hold.

Everything as expected and in line with my forecasts in my earlier posts. The sp is also trading where predicted last thursday

Results due wednesday. market fall today so do not expect sp now to be much above my thursday post of 1632.50 after the results

Maybe I am a little cautious regarding sp for christmas but I do agree on the divi increase. I still stick to my trading range up to the end of May. All the best

I do not as a rule project more than three months in advance due to the many uncertainties. I do see our economy somewhat better than it is now.I see the far east continuing its growth but at a slightly lower level than now. The big uncertainty is Europe and the mire it is in ,until that is sorted it is difficult to see where the growth is coming from to get our economy moving to a 2-3% level. So,on this one occasion I will break my rule and say the sp is unlikely to be at the top of my range at christmas but 1640-1650. please keep the posts coming as I do enjoy our thoughts

The assumption is that share splits lead to higher prices but research does not bear this fact out. i believe that share splits usually cccur after a long price rise. In the case of Standard Chartered the opportune moment would have been around the £20 mark . so why no split ; because the company like to keep low trading volumes As for RBS i know the story inside out due to the catastrophic dent in my wealth to the tune of many ,many many thousand of pounds.The share split did not work but that was due to totally different circumstances I suggest the trading range to be 1550-1675 for Standard Chartered over the next three months with the top of the range just after the results.

The company has an enormous marketing exposure worldwide expecially,of course ,in the far east. Through advertising and sponsorship Standard Chartered is a well known brand. The current price would not deter any investor,private or corporate from investing. i do not see the price rising much further so I reiterate my weak buy opinion

interesting thought on the share split.In my memory I do recall a split quite a number of years ago but this was not done when the price was just under £19 eighteen months ago,so i do not see this happening now.I believe the Board like the high share price anyway.

Very interesting observations.As a shareholder for many years ,this company hardly ever fails to increase the dividend and has been the main reason for me holding the shares.There is a sound business model , strong managment and in a market area it knows well If you must sell,leave it to after the dividend. However,I do not expect to see the sp rise much further in the short term even allowing for good results at the end of the month
