Definitely not at present time. If I were a betting man there is slightly more chance of a takeover than a Rights Issue. Fundamentals not right at the present time and the Board are getting to grips with the situation. There may well be Board changes by the middle of next year.

This share is a long term hold. The Board are taking the right steps to rectify the situation but impairments and restructuring costs will be a problem until at least the second half of next year and there may be more regulatory provisions to be taken in to account as well .However, I do believe the dividend will be maintained.

Standard Chartered share plan

I well remember the white knights episode. Originally I inherited my shares from my Grandfather when they were Standard Bank of South Africa. There then followed the merger with Chartered Bank in 1969. As for your comment regarding change of domicile I also have wondered why they have not moved to Hong Kong . Maybe the Board will now further consider this option.

I have beem a shareholder in this company for well over forty years and therefore knowledge , annual reports , my investigations , contacts and other means have enabled me to form sound judgement on this company The next 18 months may well be difficult especiallyl with the Korean situation and talk of a takeover will probably surface again with judtication, however the company will recover as will the share price. Also the dividend will be maintained at least at its present level.

I do not know The Questor Column . I assume it is an article in a magazine or newspaper , neither of which I read. Please can you explain why I should be interested in Standard Life on this board. At least your earlier post on Standard Chartered was of some benefit

I can understand your thinking and over the longer tem I agree with you. However, I was pointing out where the share price will stand immediately after the results and at the end of 2013 In share price terms that is a long time and you may be correct on your forecast for June or October but 1960p at the year end: I dont think so !!

Staying around 1700 and likely to reach 1750 soon after the results in two weeks time. My target price for the end of 2013 still remains at 1775.
