European Union lawmakers approved on Tuesday (today) an overhaul of banking rules, addressing some of the loopholes exposed by the global financial crisis.
The banking overhaul, proposed by the European Commission in November 2016, sets the level of cash banks must set aside to absorb losses and introduces new requirements for capital and liquidity, in line with global standards agreed after the 2007-09 financial crisis.
The changes have been criticised as being insufficient to prevent the scandals that have recently engulfed several banks in the region.

According to Chris Hanretty of the University of East Anglia, who calculated the Brexit vote by constituency, North East Somerset was 52.1% Leave 47.9% Remain. I notice some people are confusing the constituency with the local authority.

For what it is worth, this is my take on it.

This sounds like someone or some investment management company actually approached BEM with an offer to invest half a million, not BEM going around with the begging bowl.
This would be the quickest and cheapest way to take a punt on what we hope will be the government giving us the license.
Much more clinical than trying to acquire shares on the open market.
Plus they will take off fee's for the purchase if they are handling the offer.
If this is the case they have got in cheaply and early and will probably hold the new shares, we will never know as they don't breach the 3% rule.

And this.....
"The funds will be used for general working capital purposes and for supporting its commitment to Vardar Minerals' Kosovan exploration programme."
Just a general statement, can mean anything really to justify these funds. I thought the last fund raising was for this purpose.

One thing for sure is that LTH of BEM are not about to sell anytime soon.

Just for the record, to date, I only have 141,316 shares down from nearly 250,000 at one time.
I never automatically re-invest the dividend, but sometimes do manually when the price is convenient, usually sometime after ex-dividend.

I have been known to comment occasionally about Brexit on this BB :-))

All joking aside this can be construed as progress, I believe this is the first time any communication between BEM and the government (at least this new government) has been acknowledged.

One thing for sure is whatever the outcome of any decision is that there will be a court case.
If the concession is delayed or rejected it will be or should be BEM.
If the concession is granted the Sami will object and mount their own case.

There's a message in that last sentence, if its granted start taking your profits early and if you want more punishment re-invest when reality dawns of a long protracted appeal.
