John, this was effectively the last communication from the BOE, "the preparations now under way were aimed more at fully understanding the effects of negative rates, rather than at seeking to implement them."
As you know (and Largarde quickly learnt) any statements from central banks have to be precise and to the point because every financial journalist will interpret it in other ways. I guess that's why the BOE included that sentence.
Now the US are only concerned with average inflation they have if I remember correctly, stated there will be no more rate reductions or increases until inflation exceeds 2% (could be a long wait).
Until the next BOE statement the status quo remains , ATM I don't believe negative rates are imminent.
I don't profess to know about all this John, most of its above me, but like others I have an opinion. I'm just trying to make a few bob on the market.
