They have never let us down so far and I've no reason to believe otherwise, there's a few bob riding on this.

I lost (on paper) 17k on that drop, not including funds etc, peanuts to some.

I suspect that the detriment is on the consumer side, it usually is.

Plenty of so-called analysts recommending Lloyds.
With most Lth here in profit, and a general agreement that rate rises will be beneficial for Lloyds, but that is yet to materialise.
They may be overlooked investments but the gems part has still some way to go.

I must say I'm one of those, been taking some profit early this year but remain invested.
The main reasons you can do well in a downturn is IMO. You're not locked in, you've already sold a percentage at a profit and the most important one, you have monies available for investment.
Each to his own.

Folks look at the FTSE futures, see a positive figure and automatically think or expect that their particular holdings will follow. So far today, it's the turn of energy and mining companies, Lloyds will have to wait for now.
