Really, Labour did this all the time in the 1970s and George Osborne did this with stamp duty on expensive properties causing a mostly frozen market which ended up raising less money than before the changes.

Many governments mostly left wing push the tax rates for many taxes over the top of the Laffer Curve and many try to keep it at its peak. Better option would be to set tax rates which produce the most growth while keeping government services at a reasonable level and the take will rise as Maggie Thatcher proved.

This is true but only after a concerted campaign by labour and left wing press, Torys being weak gave in and put EPL in place probably knowing it will kill off the NS O&G and they would not be in power to take the blame. Labour were always going to increase the EPL because they could not state the Torys EPL was a good move and had to find something more to attack the Torys and also wanted to out green them.

All O&G companies should take a leaf out off Shell, BP, Harbour, Kistos etc and just reduce or leave the UK, they will not be alone with many other companies, rich people and people with good moveable skills and myself. Let see if the the Labour voters and the new immigrants are happy to pick up the tax bill.

Also companies will find it harder to raise capital if CGT increased and as people pull their money out of shares these will suffer especially those listed in London.

Even in the unlikely event EPL was lowered or removed who would want to put money into UK O&G (or UK in general with Labour in) knowing if they did this once they can do it again unless there is complete change of Government policy only likely if a completely different Conservative party emerges form the mess (don't hold your breath) or Reform are in Government.

For the next 5 years only one policy, if it moves tax it, it it stays still tax it, if it alive tax it, if it is dead tax it, if it is O&G tax it to death.

I do get where you are coming from, it is why I invested here but I do get frustrated when the BOD puts out a narrative of on the edge of a great future, takes the cash from the shareholders and gives very little information except it will be in profit some day or other. Or to put it another way

"This time next year, Rodney, we’ll be millionaires"

I have a similar situation with Futura Medical and heard this so many times from so many BODs over the years especially when they want more cash from shareholders.

As I am now in retirement I am not looking to wait many years to get some return from my investment but not looking for just some quick trades and certainly not looking to lose money even if it just a paper loss.

However both this company and Futura do look to have a bright future, we can but hope, time will tell.

Perhaps not a quick buck but not a quick lose every time I have put money in from a fund raise, so far this company has only been going in one direction, down, from 100p to 9p in 4 years.

I was hopeful like a lot of people but after putting more cash to be followed by a disappointing set of results not so hopeful now, sure there may be profits tomorrow but I have head this many times before with many companies who continue to make loses, always next month, next year. Hope I am wrong but regretting investing here partly as I would have had more cash to put elsewhere like Cameco, Energean which I have bought recently and showing good profit which would have been larger if I had not invested here as the funds would have gone into them. I will hold for a time to see how it goes.

For almost 3 years I have been losing money (65% down) and this company was losing money for a time before this date, during this time the directors are being well paid on mine and other peoples hard earnt cash so this is exactly what it is.

Hopefully this will turn around not just another Jam tomorrow company as I have seen many times, the only that matter is profit and for me that is SP and dividends. I do not like investing to lose money in order to keep directors in a life style of their choice.

When I tested some buys and sells earlier today got a huge spread larger than what you found and could only get quote with smaller amounts then you reported. Able to get quote to sell 15,000 shares now but can't get quote above this. Looks like MMs nervous this morning after index drop.

Not impressed and neither is the market, I have put 2 lots of cash into this company when they asked for funds and both times lost money, I will not put more cash in unless there are decent profits, not interested in investing in money pits.

At present this is just more jam tomorrow and a life style chose for the BOD this needs to be turned around, the market is losing patience.

I have sunk a some cash in this money pit of a company and lost almost all of it, it will not get more from me unless there is a proper turn around which always seems years away. At present it is nothing more than a money burning machine and a life style choice for the Directors at my and other shareholders expense. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.

You need to read the accounts and keep up with what is going on, there is plenty of money for both, debt repayment already factored in. Hedging is less now because of the new aquisrions.
