BMW Highway assist is ramping up nicely, Super cruise & Blue Cruise the same. As for Mercedes that will but not sure showing up as the figures out are only to end March 2023.

Cant wait to get a feel for the numbers on this period but the August and November declarations will be the best indicator as upto the end of Sept 2023 when more vehicles are SOP.

Honda hopes to recharge its electric car portfolio with a pair of new models—plus an Acura—in the coming years. The Japanese automaker has just held a briefing on its business plan, which calls for the company to have an entirely electric portfolio worldwide by 2040. By 2030, it plans to be building 2 million EVs a year.

Here in North America we should start seeing the first of those cars next year. 2024 sees the debut of the Honda Prologue and Acura ZDX, a pair of electric crossovers being developed with General Motors, using the latter's Ultium battery family. Ars got an early look at the Prologue last year on a visit to Honda's virtual reality design studio. (We expect some cheaper EVs to emerge from the GM/Honda partnership as well, but not until 2027.)

GM lifts 2023 expectations as it prepares for a breakout year with high-volume EV launches

After a solid start to the year, General Motors is raising its earnings and cash flow expectations for 2023. GM is gearing up for a breakout year with several highly anticipated EV launches planned across some of the most popular auto segments.

General Motors sold over 20,000 fully electric vehicles for the first time in the first three months of 2023, surpassing Ford as the number-two EV maker in the US and increasing its market share by eight percentage points.

The growth was led by the Chevy Bolt EV and EUV models selling 19,700 alone in Q1, the third consecutive record sales month for one of the most affordable EVs on the market. Cadillac Lyriq sales also expanded to 968 in the quarter, while only two GMC Hummer EV pickups were sold.

Ford opens up Mustang Mach-E orders again
After a record year in 2022, Mustang Mach-E sales slipped in the first three months of 2023, selling just over 5,400 units, down 20% from Q1 2022.

The drop comes as Ford completed renovations at its plant in Mexico, where the Mustang Mach-E is produced, to prepare for a production ramp. Ford said earlier this year it was aiming to double the number of Mach-e built per hour in 2023 to hit a run rate of 210,000 by the end of the year.

Ford (F) is expected to release its first quarter 2023 earnings after market close on Tuesday, May 2, as the company’s first report to break down EV financial results separately. Wall Street analysts expect Ford’s overall earnings to increase slightly in Q1 alongside higher revenues as the industry’s shift to fully electric vehicles intensifies.

BYD, the Chinese automaker that brought you the jumping active suspension sports car a couple of weeks ago, is not all show; it's also one of the leading EV manufacturers in China just behind Tesla. A year ago, the company announced a partnership with Nvidia's Hyperion self-driving technology, which is the same tech used by Jaguar, Polestar, Volvo, Mercedes, Lucid, and a bunch of Chinese manufacturers. But now, company reps are saying self-driving technology is still a long way off—if it ever goes mainstream at all.

Speaking to a group of reporters at last week's Shanghai auto show, a BYD representative suggested that self-driving tech may never get good enough, but the world may never be ready for it. "We think self-driving tech that's fully separated from humans is very, very far away, and basically impossible," Li Yunfei, a spokesperson for BYD, said in Mandarin, translated by CNBC.
