More Mazda clues. In today’s report on trams I found this wording as someone asked about mouth. Interesting as the clues are mounted. Good research everyone. Something called ‘The Guardian Device’ has also been installed on all trams which detects when drivers are drowsy or distracted. It tracks the eyes, nose and mouth of drivers and can recognise when a driver has a micro sleep or has cast their eyes down. If this happens it it will vibrate the seat and send a message to a central control centre.

Yes maybe right there? But if news slips out they may have to react. Its in the AIM rules after all. Also when say Cadillac announce going into more vehicles a new RFQ will be needed. If SEE get caught on the hop then they would be behind the curve. Car Co announces something and SEE not even quoted yet and on a NDA.
Tricky but if they didnt know Cadillac expansion plan on Super Cruise Mazda could be same.

Safety systems include a driver monitoring system that uses an infrared camera and LED to observe the driver and sounds an alert if the system considers the situation is dangerous.

What iam noticing is the communication link from marketing to Legals in Auto is not as tight as we would expect. Car companies marketing are keen to get the info out.

When I contacted SEE about Cadillac putting in Super cruise in more models, they seemed shocked by there reply. I really dont think they knew. Now GM said today going to trickle the Tech down to other brands.

Several safety features are firsts for Mazda, including ‘Driver Monitoring’ which uses an infrared camera and infrared LED mounted in the instrument bezel to analyse the driver’s condition.

The system measures how wide open the driver’s eyes are, the number of times they blink, as well as the angle of the mouth and face to determine levels of drowsiness or fatigue, day or night.

Mazda says the set-up isn’t affected by hand movements or operation of the steering wheel, checking the driver’s line of sight and eye movement only to determine inattentiveness. If it senses a dangerous situation the system sounds an alert, working with the AEB (Mazda calls it ‘Smart Brake Support’), to shorten the time required for the brake warning to sound.

the use of the sunglasses line steered me to the same conclusion. Add the drowsy or take eyes off road wording it almost certainly points to SEE. There will be many Companies slipping info out to the media that we can find.

Whos got Mazda?
Safety comes as standard, including first introductions of driver monitoring, which recognises if a driver becomes drowsy or if they take their eyes off the road (even at night or if they are wearing sunglasses), front cross traffic alert and cruising/traffic support, which offers acceleration, steering and braking assistance in traffic.
