One thing you missed was on top of this is the RNS's coming out as the many OEMs models hit the roads.

With the amount of different manufacturers & models hitting the roads over the next 12 months or so then this will surely help the SP along.

Until they do hit the road, we have many launches to look forward to & hopefully the odd bit of news you talk about.

I was looking forward to the 1st 6 months of 2020 but the virus has certainly delayed a few things.
1. Car launch dates
2. Aviation commercial decisions
3. Fleet hard to install

Hoping as the world opens up some normality returns & things slowly get back to some sort of normal trading.

Sadly after the Mustang & F-150 launches its looking that way possibly.
So in the next 6-18 ish months how many cars will arrive on the roads :-

I would imagine 25-30 models there minimum, maybe alot more? Iam sure the odd one will drop out of that lot though?

GM have promised to launch 10 models with supercruise by 2021 & extra 12 models by 2023 making 22 in total.

So we should almost see a new model launch every 1-2 months from next month.

Shame 4 month delay. How many different cars are coming in launches next few months?

The Cadillac Lyriq was scheduled to debut in person on April 2. That plan was delayed due to the pandemic.

The two-row Lyriq utility vehicle will be Cadillac’s first pure-electric vehicle. It’s scheduled for production in China first in 2021 before arriving in the US in 2022.

As examples of innovation, Cadillac pointed to the brand’s use of a curved OLED dashboard screen, AKG audio, and Super Cruise assisted-driving.

In a video that accompanied the announcement of August 6 for the debut, the poetic narration talks about “newfound freedom” while showing an image of hands-free driving.

The newly announced Vehicle Safety and Environmental Technology Update Plan (SETUP) has outlined five work packages to give Australia’s heavy vehicle industry certainty when installing new safety technology. As part of the initiative he National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) has released a blueprint to support manufacturers and operators to incorporate the latest safety technology into new and existing heavy vehicles.

One package will advocate for the increased harmonisation of Australian vehicle standards to allow for the latest designs from origin markets and the fitment of safety and environmental technology from those major market designs.

A second package will relax access and use limits for vehicles fitted with the latest environmental and vehicle safety technology.

The third will ensure in-service requirements maximise the benefits of mandated technology.

The quote at the top of the HVNL 2.0 scenario illustration which the NTC released this week says it all, this process is, “a first-principles review of the HVNL on behalf of the Transport and Infrastructure Council. The goal is to deliver a modern, outcome-focused law for regulating heavy vehicle transport in Australia.”

A simple example is the idea of using fatigue monitoring technology to allow an operation to work in a way where fatigue might become an issue. The idea is the technology mitigates the risk and this is taken into account by the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator when checking the fleet’s performance.

This means the NHVR is going to have to assess each new fatigue fighting black box as it comes to the market. They will all have different methodologies and have different effects on fatigue management. The NHVR will have to grade them in terms of what can be allowed when they are in use. This may be a slow process in a fast moving technology field.

Then distracted driving is the subject of the Stay Aware for Everyone (SAFE) Act, which will require the DOT to study how driver-monitoring systems can prevent driver distraction, driver disengagement, complacency from the use of automation and the misuse of advanced driver-assist systems.

Results of the study will lead to rulemaking to mandate the installation of driver-monitoring systems.

WASHINGTON (June 30, 2020) ? A fatal seven-vehicle crash on an Illinois highway involved three of the 10 issues on the National Transportation Safety Board’s Most Wanted List of Transportation Safety Improvements, the NTSB detailed in a report issued Tuesday.

A commercial truck-tractor and semitrailer traveling on Interstate 290 in Elmhurst, Illinois, on March 1, 2018, struck an automobile that had slowed due to traffic congestion. The rear-end collision initiated a chain of crashes involving two other large trucks and three more cars, killing one person and injuring five more.

Investigators identified three primary safety issues in the crash: medical fitness for duty, fatigue, and the lack of a collision avoidance system, all of which are on the NTSB’s Most Wanted List.

“This crash tragically highlights the urgent need to implement the safety recommendations associated with our Most Wanted List,” said NTSB Chairman Robert L. Sumwalt. “Had our safety recommendations in these areas been implemented, this crash may well have been prevented.”
