The figures are over lifetime timeframes but it grabs attention. This mornings Mexico news could be an RNS saying.

Mexico order with lifetime contract is worth A$5 million ( $1.2 hardware + install & $1.8 millio Monitoring) if based on a 5 year contract.

Some of the tech above my head but some on here will make sense of it....

L3 systems are designed to provide hands-free capabilities that don’t require constant supervision within limited domains. The recently passed UNECE regulations for L3 limit operation to speeds below 60 km/h (37 mph) and on limited access highways. In stop and go traffic, a driver could take their eyes off the road and do something else, but as soon as the speed limit is exceeded, they have to take control.

Mercedes-Benz recently announced that its first L3 system would launch in the new S-class in mid-2021 and the production version of the BMW iNext electric crossover is expected to debut around the same time. Mercedes-Benz hasn’t identified its lidar supplier.

Further details include a new steering wheel, which appears to have a row of silver or shiny buttons added to the left-hand side. What’s more, it looks as though the steering wheel has a Super Cruise indicator added along the top of the rim, which suggests that the 2022 GMC Sierra will offer semi-autonomous self-driving capabilities and features.

The model featured here also doesn’t have a flat-panel infotainment screen mounted on the dash, but rather appears to come with a screen integrated into the center stack.

Driver monitoring cameras
To help address intoxication and distraction in traffic, we are working on new in-car solutions. Driver monitoring cameras, together with other sensors, will allow the car to intervene when a clearly intoxicated or distracted driver risks serious injury or death.
